I think wowReader should have a button to open your browser to Allakhazam. And perhaps a searchbar too.

Click the red X on the character window.

Profiles aren't an interface to the site, least not for searching. Adding things like search and the like would only clutter the page.

I added a bunch of new icons today (Gnomes and Dwarves mostly), as per request.

I'm thinking it might be a port issue on our side since our in-house network admin recently blocked off all the ports "except for the ones we use" after a hack attempt on our network. My question then is what port is this running so I can make sure it's open? I've seen this question asked before but didn't see an answer to it.

Patches are downloaded via http/port 80. Data is uploaded by making a connection on port 11225.

I only seem to find questions asking for a Mac Version, but no answer from anyone involved in the project.

So what's the current state?

Is there no place where i could just link to my savedvariables.lua file instead of this Windows-Download-Hassle to update my characters?

I paid 20 bucks to use this site to full extend but i guess i missed the thing about windows only .o)

an answer of some kind isnt too much... is it?

kalol: It makes outbound connections on port 80 for patching, and 11225 to upload data.

Thanks for the info. Added rule to firewall and now it works like a charm.

First I think WowReader is a great tool. I use Allakhazam all the time to check quests and other things (I also encourage anyone who uses it regularly and can afford to to become a member).

One thing I would really love to see on the quest descriptions is a list of the factions raised for completing the quest. I would think it is possible for WowReader to capture this since there is an addon in CosmosUI that is able to trace reputation changes.

This would be real handy for someone who is trying to build up reputation with one particular faction. I have a dwarf hunter who would love to get to exhaulted with Darnassus, and being able to search for quests that raise that faction would be great.

Just on a side note I find it annoying that quests for say Stormwind will typically add a little reputation increase to Ironforge and Gnomeregan Exiles (called "spillover" - Blizzard's term for it), and vice versa. But none of those 3 factions ever seems to spillover to Darnassus. Darnassus quests often do spill over to the other Alliance factions. I don't know if this is a bug or by design. But with that, and the fact that there seems to be fewer Darnassus quests, makes it hard to raise that reputation with the night elves.

In summary, I am requesting an enhancement to WowReader to colect reputation information with quests, and for the quest descriptions to include that.

Not sure it was mentioned, but is there going to be functionality to view recipies known by the profiles in their respective professions? I think this would be very powerful in tallying or finding others who can craft/enchant certain things.

People in my guild are complaining that WowReader is giving them Spyware alerts. Any idea what's causing this?

What program do they claim is treating it as such? There's no reason it would be giving them alerts.

I keep getting "unable to read data from the transport connection."

This is when the wowReader is trying to send the data.

After the long downtime for several servers those select servers had issues with various things such as mail loss, friends list loss, and Tootip reset. After playing for awhile I logged out and uploaded my updated character information. I noticed that WoWReader was sending all six of my characters to be updated which I thought was odd since I had not played all six recently. Well I logged into Allakhazam a few hours later to see my one of my profiles so I could look something up. When I clicked my profiles all my profiles from the Sargeras server, one of the servers that were having issues, are blank(i.e. no data). What should I do to get my characters back on track?

I'm getting an error-box pop up while the startup Updater is downloading patch.xml. It says

"Error downloading update: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required."

The only option with this box is OK. Click it, and it will either:

-> Open up WoWReader.

-> Go back to trying to download patch.xml, and fail again.

As a side note, it might pay to check my uploads (as of about 5 minutes ago (ed: from the first post time, that is) - I don't know if they're good or garbage.

edit: found the problem - IE was set to use a proxy (my university's one so I can get into webmail) in LAN settings (*not* on the ADSL connection that is set to default). WoWReader must have been picking this up from IE's configuration .... but the really odd thing is that IE itself doesn't use the proxy, because the default connection there (ADSL) doen't have it enabled.

Disabled the proxy in LAN settings, and it worked like swiss watch.

I can see two different ways of skinning this cat:
- Fix your connect-detection code so it actually checks to see which connection IE uses.
- If a proxy is detected, give the user input boxes for username/password.

(Actually, both would be a preferable solution .... I'm sure there are people playing this game who can't get out except through an indirection layer.)

Try installing the latest update to .NET from microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a8f5654f-088e-40b2-bbdb-a83353618b38&displaylang=en

RugratsOfDoom: Thanks for the report on the issues with proxy settings. It seems theres a problem with the .NET library incorrectly deciding how and when to use proxy settings. I'll look into fixing it.

I've never seen this error before, and I'm not exactly sure where it's coming from. Have you tried reinstalling?

Is there any plans to develope target profile function in wowreader? It would give a better way to get all the profiles online.

It downloads just fine but as it's about to start actually installing the application fails.
