WowReader Issues and HelpFollow

#102 Jul 17 2005 at 11:53 AM Rating: Decent
I'm having issues with WoWReader hanging at the "Updater" screen upon launch. It will hang at two bars during the "Dowloading patch.xml" process.

I saw a post on the first page with the same problem, but did not see a resolution posted.

I have Downloaded and re-installed a fresh copy, however the same problem is occurring.

I have un-installed WoWReader and re-installed with another fresh copy, same result.

Any know fix to this issue?

Thanks,

Joey

It sounds like something is blocking it from connecting to check for updates. You can check the patch.log file in the place you installed wowreader to get an idea of whats happening. Make sure you don't have a software firewall thats blocking it.

I've downloaded WoWreader to put myself on my guild's site.
So I download it --

I login (via Options, Allakhazam login)it then tells me that login has failed, and to check my password. (...) so then I got to Allakhazam and change my password to like dog or something just as simple. And again, with the same message. Help?

As a few others are getting when I hit update it gives me the check password message. Have changed my password and the site and still nothing. Any help would be great.

Hmmm. RIGHT after I posted I figured I would try one more time before logging onto WoW and it worked lol...weird. I wasnt typing in my password wrong because I had tried to log in about 30 times before...Dunno what fixed it..

But now when I click on aliance lvl 24 hunter it says I am last when I order it with hp or mana. When I should be on the 2nd page for hp and the first for mana. Any Idea's?

Char's name is Kaylen if you click on her the stats are not the same as what shows up when you order it.

I've installed the software and it runs and updates objects fine, however the addon is not appearing in my list of addons, /wver doesn't work at all and none of my characters are being uploaded. What must I do to get the addon to install correctly?

I've deleted all my profiles, yet one of them can still be accessed by a direct link. It isn't showing up in the guild roster, nor in "your characters" but the data still seems to be around. How to get rid of it?

Shavinistra: Does Wr exist in your wow addons folder? By default it should be "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Wr", or in "\Interface\AddOns\Wr" from wherever you installed wow. When you first start wowreader, it's supposed to copy the files there.

ravenproject: If you give me the profile id #, I can look into it, but its most likely just a cached copy that will expire soon.

New features are great and all, but I really have no desire to show off my bagslots to people.

Any chance of getting the main items to be configurable?

[x] Paper Doll
[ ] Bank/Bags/Gold
[x] Talents
[x] Skills

Actually, that's the reason I deleted all my profiles. I don't want to provide the content of my bags and my amount of gold to the world. I'd rather have no profile at all.

I'll wait 24h for the cache to expire and if it is still there I'll send you a mail rale.

If we could have a choice on what things to display with our profile that would be great. I have a guild bank mule whose bank and bag contents i would like the guild to easily be able to view. But on the other hand, I would not like them shown on other characters.

I like the new feature but would prefer being able to toggle them on and off.

My guild is stopping the use of WoWReader until showing of the bag contents and gold is selectable. That's too much like showing the world your paycheck. It should definitely be disabled by default.

It is a great idea to show bags and gold for the same reason the other member stated, for the guild mule.

LOVE the app, HATE the privacy invasion. =(

I just noticed that it shows what is in bags now. I like this addition but I agree it should be an option to check to get this. I would also like the option to show what is in the bank.

When I went in to delete my characters, due to this new invasion of privacy, (it's like going thru someone's drawers), I noticed the check box for "Inventory". I un-checked it, but couldn't seem to get it to take, and was still able to see my bags and their contents. So apparently you have a "bug" and that this was not a total act of stupidity. The default should have been un-checked, not checked. I did delete my characters. You should have warned us (or informed us) too about this new feature.

Adding the ability to deselect inventory, see the "your characters" page.

The default is to show inventory, de select inventory to drop coin and bags from showing.

There are no plans at this time to show bank contents.

Yes, I did try that. Tried update, tried every way I could think of. I couldn't get "Inventory" to stay de-selected. Don't know what I could be doing wrong.

There was a problem with that page being cached, so the display wouldn't update. Should be ok now.

Now why can't Blizzard fix things this fast? lol

I'll try using the new switch when I get home. =)

Hey, just got your magnificent WoW reader and every time I try to upload my profile (following all instructions) I get the message "Login failed. Please check your password." My password is not incorrect I have typed it millions of times now and even tried the initial password for my account that was e-mailed to me before I changed it later. HELP!

I checked the server logs; you entered your login name incorrectly. Just put "Theguruofreason" in the login field, and you should have no problems.

Connection error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond

I'm thinking it might be a port issue on our side since our in-house network admin recently blocked off all the ports "except for the ones we use" after a hack attempt on our network. My question then is what port is this running so I can make sure it's open? I've seen this question asked before but didn't see an answer to it.

If it's not the port issue, anyone else have the same problem? I've got 9 profiles waiting to upload and my main hasn't been updated in 4 levels because I haven't been able to get it to work.

Suggested Improvements:

I think wowReader should have a button to open your browser to Allakhazam. And perhaps a searchbar too.
