WowReader Issues and HelpFollow

#53 Jun 21 2005 at 6:27 AM Rating: Decent
For the last couple of days that i have used WoW reader the program says it is uploading things. However when i check the website it hasnt updated my character at all. I haven't had any problems before with WoW reader and it has just been doing this for the last few days.

Besides just sounding like a broken record on the Mac requests for the WoW reader, I would like to ask a new question about it.

Is it possible for you to tell us at what stage you are in the development of the Mac version? I'm not asking in a veiled way to try to elicit a possible release date. I am pretty much just curious at this point about where things stand with the development. From time to time, we get news about different products in various stages of development from Microsoft, and other sofware vendors. I'm just wondering if you could give us a little morsel on where you are instead of the usual, "we're working on it. There's no release date announced yet," response.

Not being crabby, just curious.

Thanks

I had an idea that might help with the quests WOW read picks up. I have an add-on called "Questbank" which is awesome, because it stores the entire quest info since I add the addon.
Name,location,level,type,reward,text. all that stuff.

Might there be some way to incorporate the two? Im not script coder, so its just an Idea I thought might be usefull.

I get the error:

Connection Error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Port issue?

Same problem... Connection actively refused by the server.

I'm also in the connection actively refused by server boat.

(edit) as of this edit, whatever it was appears to be fixed.

I was having the same problem this morning being actively refused. Must be server related. Hopefully it is all fixed.

WoWreader seems to work fine except that when I look at my character profile in the upper lefthand corner instead of my character's portriat there's just a "W".

I got a/some question/s about Data collection. As i read in previous posts it seems that only US-clients on US-realm are able to collect data. I play on german realm with an english Client. Thus the names of the items i collect 'should be' the same as US ones.

Is it possible to 'activate' the data collection for english clients too ? Maybe with some restriction e.g. only items i pickup. Thus uploading german/french/etc names wouldnt be possible.
I use allakhazam service pretty often and i would like to assist you with some collection data^^. What do you think?

Every time I input the correct password to my account, wowreader changes it and adds a bunch of characters to the end of it.

then when I try to upload it says "INVALID PASSWORD." well DUH it's an invalid password, the damn program won't accept the correct one!

I keep getting that too.. i redo my password and save it.. but it doesnt work.. when i check my password it shows it as ********************** but my password isnt that big.. I tried reinstalling the reader but it didnt help heh.

The number of stars shown when you go back to the login window is not related to your actual password. If you're still having trouble, try changing your password here on the website and re-entering the new one. Remember, both the login and password are case sensitive.

I cannot get Wow Reader to update my character's profile since the last patch. I've uninstalled, re-downloaded, reinstalled, done all that is require to install it, logged in and done an Update but when I look at the page it still says I'm a level 20 when in actuality I'm level 40.

Redownloading a fresh copy and reinstalling this morning did not help the follow recurring issues. When attempting to upload information, WowReader responds with one of three things:

  • It returns a connection error when the host connection times out. This one happens most often, and I understand this to be a server load issue, not necessarily WowReader. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  • The second most frequent issue is it uploads items, quests and creatures, but hangs on lua data. The connection then times out, thereby leaving partial information not uploaded and not completing profile updates. I generally have to use the Task Manager to close it when this happens.
  • Most recently (tonight) I receive "Unable to read data from transport connection."

  • The last one is what truly has me puzzled, as I've not received that particular error before tonight. Any suggestions on how I can go about correcting this issue if possible are appreciated. Regardless, I've enjoyed using WowReader and think it is a nifty program. Thank you!

I guess this is a known issue but Ill ask anyway ;) Why doesnt the GFX on my chars show up anymore? Before, a month ago or so when I still played WoW actively I saw the actual GFX for my chars but now its just blank.
