Due to the severe drop in speeds, a friend and i are mirroring the patch on our servers.

http://www.kittysafe.net/wow/WoW-1.1.2-to-2.2.1-patch-enUS.zip

http://146.186.48.138/patch/WoW-1.1.2-to-1.2.1-patch-enUS.zip

I posted this on the WoW General forums, and with those vultures over there bandwidth may come to a dead stop, or crash our servers so bear with us too.

EDIT: It's working again. I have reports of only partial DLs so before spending the time DLing, make sure its 39megs and some change.

If anyone can get me a copy of the patch, I'll be happy to create a .torrent somewhere like demonoid.com, and seed it for a while.

I've been trying to download 40MB for over an hour using the official client, and I'm not even halfway through.

I hate to ask this of you, whoever tries to use our links, but post if the upload pages are working or not.

I know your all going to hate me for saying this, but only took me about 30min... Don't know why it seems everyone else is having problems with speeds. And yes, I used the official client thing.

No go for me. I get a 'done' on one, but no data and on the kitty one I just can't connect.

Neither of the links work for me.

The trouble I have with the Blizzard downloader is that it decides to upload at cap, which swamps my connection to the point that I can't view web pages, can't IM, and basically chokes my modem for a minute or two. Then it has to go about finding new peers and such again.

It's not a bittorrent problem (apart from not being able to cap my upload), because I use Azareus regularly, and have great speeds.

If you want to, just AIM me at: natestercdur and ill send you the file. Its slower but out sites are getting hit at an insane rate.

I cant get to the file over the direct connection i make to the server because of the losses of bandwidth. Let me ride it out, dont IM me... lol.

I'm at 65% done. Thanks for the offer, but I'll just wait it out. I'm at work anyway. I may want to do some actual work :D

Well by the time you get home (maybe) there shouldn't be as many people downloading, which is what I personally think the problem is.

As for the not nuking your site... Well I used the official thing so I don't need to download it, but posting something like that here, when there are problems going on with downloading it from the official client (ie the downloader)... Kinda asking for nuking and bandwidth shooting, mainly just cause of the amount of people here who will be downloading it...

Hehe. So you mind if inquire how your out the money for a new hdd? Something to do with this patch? Of course if you don't want to share then thats totally up to you, i'm just curious if it has something to do with people nuking your site... Oh and by nuking, i'm assuming your not talking about hacking attacks and your just talking about a bunch of downloads and things.

I've been trying to download the file now for some time, but everytime it gets to 18-23M it suddenly zips through the rest of the file and says its complete even though its only downloaded half the file. Any ideas?

I'd use the blizz patcher, but being a dialup user, I get the shaft royally due to them not releasing the patches until 9am when I leave for work at 7:30 and I would like to actually play tonight.

When i meant dont nuke it, i meant dont go home and start DLing on every PC in your house, and give the URL out to your best friends cousins wifes sister.

Its quite sad that i spent an hour and a half trying to help you all here out, and i get rated down for it, then attacked by tomec when i say dont spike the site too much. I had between 3000-3500 connections at any given time before i lost the first HD, now its steady at 500-1000 connections, what the server is supposed to be able to handle.

I dont care about the new HD, answering Tomec's question. It's covered under warranty as long as i don't tell them i was hosting something that i shouldn't have been which caused the crash.

And as for the partial DLs, just restart your DL if you see that that the full file size is NOT 39.31.
#18 Dec 21 2004 at 3:21 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, I should have been more clear. It shows a full file size of 40.1M. But it gets to 18-22M and then zips up to the full dl amount in about a second, claims the download is complete, but it has only downloaded the 18-22M. It's really weird and I'm beginning to wonder if connections aren't getting confused and I am getting someone elses EOF.

Not sure, a few told me that, but they weren't saving it to disk, all they were doing is directly opening it. If you are saving it to disk, something might be corrupting the file.
#20 Dec 21 2004 at 3:26 PM Rating: Decent
Yep. I am doing a direct save to disk. Even tried multiple browsers thinking it might be the browser, but the two I tried (IE and Firefox) both do it. I don't suppose you would be willing to email it to me if I sent you my hotmail would you? I might be able to sneak around the firewall for an AIM session, so I might try and hit you up with that as well if thats still ok.

I cant get to the file directly, i had the issue earlier when serveral people IMed me for the file.

The best i can say is: Keep trying.

As i dont want to turn this into a tech support thread, ill give these tips and leave it at that.

1) Save to HD, dont open from file.
2) I dont know what browser supports best, so use IE5.
3) Make sure the file is 39.31 before spending the 5-10 minutes DLing. People are getting partial DLs.
4) If the page goes down, it will come back up.
5) Don't ask questions on this thread, send me a PM.
6) I cant get to the file currently because of bandwidth loss, its on that page, get it from that page.
7) I no longer have the file on my PC, so i cant AIM it to you either.

GL, Merry Chrismas/Happy Holidays, and good gaming.

I'm sorry you thought that was an attack, I certainly didn't mean it as one. I'll go back and look at the post again though, see if it was easy to mis-read.

Also, I promise you I didn't rate you down, heck I rated you up and got some other people to probably rate you up who i'm talking to through messages.

Again, sorry you thought that was an attack.

Heh, if its any consulation I also gave you my first rate-up after I made my first post. I also looked at the post and can see how it could be misunderstood so I edited to prevent another misunderstanding... Lord knows the last thing people who recovered from being karma bombed need is another bombing over something like a simple misunderstanding.

I've created a torrent file and begun seeding, now that I've finally gotten the complete installer. You can download the .torrent here, or go to www.filerush.com and grab the torrent from there.

Good luck :)
