PvP

The areas you are in for levels 1-20 or so are in Horde (or Alliance) territory and you cannot be attacked by the other faction unless you attack them first.

There are numerous raids that take place, but you dont' have to participate in them if you don't want to.

From 20 on you'll be in Contested areas, where it's free-for-all pretty much. But the areas are large enough that you won't be tripping over the other faction all the time. There is plenty of oppontunity to level without getting ganked.

It does happen. Be in the middle of a quest and get attacked, or attack, but it's not a constant thing.

PvE means Player Versus Environment. On PvE servers PvP is strictly concentual, though I'm still not completely sure how PVP works on one. I'm always hearin' people shouting about the hordes on their way, the hordes this and that..and for the life of me can't see why it matters on a PvE server :) Someone care to enlighten how the concentual fightin' works?

People from one faction go to the lands of the other faction and start mixing it up with the NPCs. Kill an NPC and you get flagged as temporarily PvP, which means people of the opposite faction can then attack you (making them temporarily PvP).

It's a nuisance when the Alliance peeps come kill off our NPCs... you know, the ones who sell us supplies or finish our quests... so when we see Alliance in our 'hood we make sure everyone knows they're there. By announcing that "two level 30 alliance are headed toward xroads from Rachet" for example, it gives players a chance to intercept the invaders... so that when the first blow is struck against our NPCs, we can jump in and try to repel them.

Good, clean fun. Smiley: yippee Gives you a chance to "pick your battles" so to speak... no chance of getting ganked while you're minding your own business, but still a way to participate in meaningful PvP. Not everyone thinks so - (I've seen more than one "who cares?!?" on general chat when a rallying call goes up) - but for me it really feels like there's a purpose and that it's important to fight back.
