What are the chances...? (Fishing nerf)Follow

I wonder how theyre planning on fixing the botting issue.. :\ I really hope they don do wat SE did with FFXI.. Only place to fish safely is cities, only gd places to fish are high lvl places..

*sigh* I play games to use tradeskills, I level up my combat as much as I absolutely have to, only to support my tradeskills. One of the reasons I decided to get WoW was for fishing, n the fishing in WoW looked great. I *love* fishing in every game Ive played, becuz it was smth to do while relaxing. Not having to watch out for anything, being able to sit back, get comfy, n make a lil bit of money.. I *am* anti-botting, but I really hope they don ***** it over for us low lvl combat\higher crafting ppl.

You play JUST for the tradeskills???
You must be one of those people who sells items online for real money. Bliz is hunting those people down and puttin a hurting on them. You might wanna watch out. It's hard to believe someone would pay $15/month JUST to tradeskill... and occasionally fight.

They are making it so fishing level is caped by your level like other primary trade skills, this is how the botters have affected fishing.

I doubt you will see further nerfs since and this only means you have to get to level 20 before you can use the book. Not a huge change. To get artisen fishing you already had to do a quest that involved high level drops.

--edit add--
In reguards to the claim that people who play for the tradeskills must sell things RL. This is false. I played horizons for the trade skills, I had a level 70/30 crafting/adventuring character. I liked the fact that trade skills where seperate. Of course when they started heavily modifying item drops (making them so rare only high level adventures could farm them) and mucking with rescource nodes. I ended up quitting the game. I think the tradeskills where the only thing that game had going for it.

Sorry, I am not a hack-n-slash kiddie (such as yourself). I play for the economics. So watever level I am, I am always wearing the best equips one can possibly afford. If I'm not wearing top of the line, I shouldnt be out lvling. Lvling is like "look at my snazzy equips" time for me. Its not "level cuz I gotta be higher lvl than everyone else!111one kekeke who cares about having decent gearz when your 1337 lvlz like me??!!!!!!!!!"

Thats jus how I play. No need to accuse someone of acts such as that, jus cuz they have a dif play style than you. I have never been more interested in lvl grinding than I have been in economics. You, obviously, have never been more interested in economics, n would prefer to level grind.

This is where you're going wrong...this game isn't focused on money like most MMO's.

You won't find the best drops in Auction Houses. You find them in instanced dungeons on Elite bosses that take several hours to reach and a lot of skill to kill.

Just letting you know. I've received my best equipment from quests, NOT from farming or crafting till I had enough to "afford the best".

But don't get me wrong, I'm not making fun of you or trying to flame at all :) I just want you to know that although it's not a bad idea to make sure you can afford good gear, chances are the best gear for your level won't be buyable.

They wont much fishing anymore... you CANT bot it. It's on a random time, you have to click (with the mouse, since you cant target the float) on the float when a fish tugs, and if you tug before, you have to recast. I dont see any way this could be botted... Of course I'm not a programmer.

Hey Mandyz, your first mistake was coming into this game thinking things are bottable like in other MMORPGs. There is too much involved to be able to bot most of the profession (trade skill) type stuff in this game.

There is only so much a bot is capable of, and for any form of detection to work it things have to be very constant. Most of the things in WoW are more variable leaving too many ways for a bot to just ***** up.

The farthest any bot has come so far is a bot that will kill mobs for you, but it can't loot so sucks to be them now doesn't it.

To be specific. A Bot is a script that runs in the background. Those scripts rely completely on keyboard commands, they cannot do anything that requires a mouse. So if you can't do it with the keyboard, and you can't macro it then you can't have a bot do it for you. I'm not sure about crafting as I have not played with macros. However I do know you cannot loot, fish, mine, gather herbs, get quests, and buy stuff without using the mouse. I'm sure there is more that I am forgetting, but if anyone can clarify if you can or cannot macro crafting then that would be the last thing I can think of.

However if you can't loot, mine, gather herbs, or buy stuff then having a bot craft for you is kinda pointless.

Heck the reason bots are so rampant in FFXI is because there is nothing in FFXI that requires you to use the mouse. You can unplug it and put it aside for the extra cup space when playing that game. I know in the several months I played I never touched the mouse.

Probably because of the first fishing nerf were they removed the fish... I have a request though, could you post the info about the quest, or even a link, in the link in my sig to the fishing guide? I'm trying to keep on top of it, and the forums, looking for info on that quest so I can declare it "complete". Even if it isn't possible to complte atm it would still be a nice piece of info to have.

Last I heard on getting your fishing above 225 is that it has been disabled since retail for unannounced reasons. Yes it will be reactivated as soon as possible, but I don't usually go to the offical boards so hunt there if you want more of an answer.

You know, way back when, my kid brother had an Atari (not 64...just atari) and he had this fishing game...I am really dating myself here, lol. You dropped in the line and these fish shaped splooches would get on your hook and you would reel them up before a shark got them. Perhaps you could find an old atari and the fishing game to replace your bugged WoW fishing.

Sorry, did not mean to hijack this and turn it into a WoW vs. old-*** atari fishing game thread.

Smiley: grin Oh, lighten up...it is called humor.
