Hey all, I don't have WoW, but have played other MMOs. I should have WoW in about a week (XMas =) ) I was looking through the classes and I'm looking for help which to be. Here's what I have so far -

1. I want my race to be Troll
2. I want a class that works with Troll
3. I want a class that can solo well
4. good with PvP

So, I'm thinking Shaman, Hunter, or Rogue. Concensus?

The beauty of this game Jeff, is the fact that you can pick any of those classes and you will be able to solo well and be good in PvP.

Pick the one that appeals the most to you. You'll be able to have fun no matter what you choose.

Pick the one you have the most fun playing.

That's the answer.

There is no "best class" for the different races.

Play the one that's most fun.

That's good to know. I'm probably just going to pick Rogue, as I've mostly been a thief in other games. This one sounds really great, can't wait to start playing. Thanks for your help everyone

At the risk of being redundant (like that doesn't happen on this board), play whatever you have fun with. There is not a best class. The best class si the class you have the most fun with...which means no one here can tell you.

Look, it does not take too long to get to level 10 or so. Start a character and play until level 11 or 12. Almost every class gets a pretty cool addition at level 10. Give it a chance. If you get to 11 or 12 and are not having fun start a different one. By level 12 you will have a pretty good feel for what the class will play like and what strengths and weaknesses are.
