Good morning all. I seem to be having major issues with lag in the AH's. I am sure that many of you are experiencing the same thing. If you are, please visit the official forums and sign my "petition" or voice your concern. I don't think it would be too much to ask to have 2 shops in each AH city to help alleviate the incredible lag present there. This isn't L.Jeuno lag, but ridiculous freezeup lag.

All you have to do is sign in with your WoW account info, pick the char you want to represent with, and then voice your agreement (hopefully) Smiley: wink

You know... I've never, ever, ever had any problems with this supposed lag at the AH... I've heard a few peopl complain though... Maybe you should turn your graphics down? Or switch ISPs??

I started having severe problems with this recently. I couldn't even buy anything 2 nights ago.

However, Bliz has said they are working on the issue. Mainly they're getting more auction houses open in other cities. The problem is right now that there are only 2 AHes to serve the entire population of a server.

I don't have any problems. Maybe its cuz i have a new computer? (3.0 GHz, 552 DDR). And i'm using a crappy stock video card for the moment.

Is your lag caused by an amount of people being your screen at once? Try shutting down applications running in windows that you don't need open.

Otherwise I dunno. Maybe you need a better graphics card or more RAM?

Everywhere else is smooth as silk except for the AH during primetime. My card and computer are fine.

The problem is the sheer number of people in the small area at the same time. There's just too much information being shoved into the system and it starts to lag with the constant movement.

lag in crowded areas is due to RAM and disk speed.

if you dont experience lag any other times, try defragging your HD.
and if you can afford it, upgrade to 1gig of ram... wow is smooth as silk on 1gig.

otherwise turn down the graphic options... a friend of mine gets bad lag in stormwind during peak times and turned down most of the graphic options and it works fine for him now.

It looks like Blizzard is going to address this by having AH's in all the major towns. I read that this was Blizzards plan in kingjord's post. Its also here. WoW News

I do like your Idea of having multiple instances of the AH in each town. It seems to me like that wouldn't be that difficult to do and spreading out the people is definately a plus for everyone's system speed.

I have to say the issue is not really graphics quality, it's loading of the sheer number of player models when you hit the Bank/AH area. I've entered IF from the tram a number of times very smoothly, but when I get near the AH (from any direction) and my comp starts pulling up data off the HDD for players, it lags hardcore. I know memory would help, but considering that 512 is the RECOMMENDED on the box, they need to work it so that those of us with 512 don't have a huge issue here.

Instanciating the Bank/AH would rock, but would require some redesign of the area, so I doubt they'd do anytime soon. Simply creating a "Trade District" like the tramway in it's own instance would be a great way to do this I think. Perhaps they could do this when they put in guild halls and player housing in the future. Each guild gets its own instance with a guild bank and faction AH, and your personal instance has your personal bank.

Hopefully moving AH's into the other cities will help this out, but I still have an icky load-lag when I hit SW. Give us back the "max number of player models" option, that helped me with this issue a TON in ST/OB... dunno why they removed it.

People saying the lag is related to hardware, please just stop. You have no idea what you are talking about. I have a P4 3.2 Ghz, 1Gig of RAM 2x512 running in dual channel mode, a GeForce 6600GT, a cable modem that downloads at almost 3.0Mbps, and I STILL get AH lag. The lag is due to only having 2 AH's to serve the entire population of the server, and on a crowded server that means LAG. That is why Blizzard has announced they will be opening AH's in all of the major cities.

dude there are actually three AH's that i know of, one is in Iron forge for aliance. One is in Gadgetzan being a netural sight for every one. And one is in Ogrimmar for the hord. But i do agree with the base idea of this forum. They do need to make more AH's for no other reason than to lower the amount of people in one small area.
