Just a quick question:
if you pick up engineering as a hunter will u use the guns u make? or will there be better guns from drops/quests as you progress? also, the best gun in the game: engineered or droped?

i use the guns i make an a hunter with engineering... but there are way better guns available in AH and drops.

so you think engineering worth it? or are the guns in the AH cheep enuf to buy that i could take up a different proffesion?
Engineering guns tend to fill in the gaps between good quest/dropped guns. For example, I replaced my blue Double Barrelled Shotgun with a Mithril Blunderbuss until I completed Big Game Hunter and got my Master Hunter Rifle.

You can make your own shot,scope, and guns are pretty good. Also bombs can help you out.Plus goggles are the only head items under 25. The one bad thing is when you make a pet you can't use it with your own pet. I'd say rouge or war is the best use of eng since they don't have a pet.
There is some cool stuff you can make. Thats why i went with it, but it's mostly worthless for me as a Warlock.

Engineering/Mining is a very popular professions choice for Hunters. Engineering is a very versatile craft and it is capable of doing many things. Do be warned though, do not take engineering if you're looking to make money. Most of the items you make require skill in engineering in order to use, with a few exceptions of course.
If you're only wanting to take engineering to save money on making guns you may as well pick another profession. Guns are not very expensive to buy from the AH, and making the gun will not save you a lot of money due to the amount of time it takes to get your own materials.
Since there is no type of woodworking skill available in the game yet, some hunters take engineering to make their own ammo. Crafted ammo do more DPS than store bought ammo so that could be a factor for you in the end-game.
Also... goggles are not the only head item under level 25.
