I can't wait until they implement the PvR feature. Then WoW will really pwn FFXI.

I fail to see how FFXI is "hardcore."
I've got 72 days worth of game time logged into FFXI, and the only thing I learned from it was that apparently the japanese (and this also seems to be true for korean gamers) have a fetish for video games where it takes 3+ hours to get even the most menial task done, and then be given meager rewards for it.
A friend of mine also pointed out a theme where eastern video games aslo have the weakest possible rogue/thief and white mage/cleric characters, where western games seem to like making them goofy buff.
FF stuff is fine and all, but I really can't see how XI has any sort of advantage over WoW at all, except for being able to play a human male who isn't all kinds of ugly.

I remember a time I took a few ppl to get Rank 5. I had my club at 180 and was lv71. I had no mp and almost got killed by one of those birds close to the door... What level are they like 45...
I guess that's my thought for today gotta run to work now.

Just an unbiased opinion.
FFXI
Pros: FFXI is a seriously great game. The worlds are expansive and huge. There is always an amazing sense of achievement after gaining another lvl or beating BCNM quests. The story is amazingly engrossing. The graphics are pretty top-notch and lag was never a problem. The game has an actual economy unlike the current mock-economy WoW has.
Cons: FFXI requires forced grouping. To get anything accomplished requires at least 4-5hours in one sitting. You don't feel bad *** being lvl 60 and still killing caterpillars and crabs. The community is elitest. Money is a huge focus of the game which basically dictates enjoyment in the long run.
WoW
Pros: Very easy to get into. Great achievements can be accomplished in short amounts of time. 1hour is equivalent to fun and not boredom. Community is very tight considering there is a common hatred towards opposite factions. Grouping is made optional instead of required. Graphics are amazing in terms of the games overall style it sets out to achieve.
Cons: Lag regardless of system or internet connection. Poor customer service in the form of incompetent GM's who leave tickets open for days on end. No actual economy (which can be seen as a pro or con) leading to no sense of real achievement in terms of being rich. Goofy glitches which (we all hope and pray) will eventually be ironed out.
Both are great games, both appeal to different play styles.
Thing really enjoyable about FFXI that I miss in WoW is the sense of a real economy (this is to be regarded in terms of pre-gilfarmer/ price gouger/ undercutter days), and the sense of achievement in crafting. LvL 100 in goldsmithing actually meant something in FFXI. LvL 300 in smithing just means you joined the club of what anyone else can do.

they mods should really sticky a FFXI v. WoW thread including all relevent posts that actually pose a comparison instead of bashing one game or the other. This in fact would help purchases made via the ebgames link that allakhazam shamelessly uses to promote premium membership.

Akin to a sort of fanboy shoutbox, with a disclaimer that all threads started with similar aims (as in comparing the two directly) will be locked or deleted immediately.
