Make up your mind Blizzard...Follow

#1 Dec 14 2004 at 9:35 AM Rating: Default
I'm posting this here because I would like to vent a little frustration and it seems that once again the login server for the "official" forums is down. Kind of weird to me when tons of people are posting as the login server is suppose to be down. Do they have special accounts? did they pay more than me? wtf is going on there?

Anyway, I am wondering when blizz is going to make up it's mind about server restarts and maintenance? It seems everyday there is something different posted and if not the realms are never restarted when they are suppose to be.

Here is the latest post:
Please Note: Daily Scheduled Maintenance II | 11/29/2004 5:25:04 PM PST

As of now, we will be bringing down the realms daily for regular maintenance. The schedule is as follows:

All Central and Eastern realms will be down from 4:00AM to 5:00AM EST.

All Pacific and Mountain realms will be down from 7:00AM to 8:00AM PST.

Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

This is the last one that we got, now I see, after all the servers are brought down and NOT BEFORE!! now this is posted:
12/14 - Server Maintenance - All Servers | 12/14/2004 6:09:02 AM PST

All servers will be coming down at 6:00 AM PST for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance should last for approximately 4 hours.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, and thank you for your patience.

4 hours? WTF?? That just cuts a lot of peoples playing time away, this is getting old. Shades of the EQ disasters of having the servers down for hours and sometimes days.

Whatever. Hey blizzard, fix yur friggin forum login server or don't have one, morons!!

If you're logged into the Forum before the server goes down, it keeps you active. Once you get logged off the Forums then it won't let you back on.

Edit: Is this your very first Blizzard game?

I totaly agree with you man, I mean who cares if they're trying to fix the bajillion bugs out there. Let them do that >WHILE< we play, who knows! We might even get corrupted character data and die a thousand times due to rampant server lag from them changing stuff while hundreds of thousands of people are logged in. You sir are a winner =P.

Well honestly I think its screwy lol, their forums shouldnt be effected like so. I mean many people head to the forums to talk and such after a server goes down.

Two words: grow up.

In case you've forgotten, WoW is an MMORPG, and that means that the game changes over time. I just don't get how n00bs such as you continue to bash Maintenance time with these kind of games. Stuff changes, bugs are fixed, etc. And for crying out loud: THE GAME IS NIGH ONE MONTH OLD. Oh, and Blizzard isn't exactly the most experienced company in the MMO realm, so give them time, they'll get the kinks worked out. Geez man, get a life. WoW is just a fricken game. Your character will still be there when the maintenance is done.

As for the login server for the forums, you must not think very hard. If the login server is down, then no new people can log into the forums at this time. I'll spell out what that means: people already were logged on *gasp!* and thus can still post.

Frankly, we don't need your kind here. Go back to the offical boards for your useless whining and complaining cause we don't want to hear it.

Take your useless ******** somewhere else.

What's the matter, mommy won't let you play anymore?

There is a DIFFERENCE between scheduled daily maintenance and unscheduled maintenance.

The maintenance that is going on now, 4 hours, is UNSCHEDULED.

Blizzard didn't change their minds about when they were doing maintenance, something came up that required immediate work.

The first week or so some people could sign on to the board fine. I would sign in and be listed as "Anon" with a "Beta Tester" logo. I couldn't post anything while being under "Anon". My boyfriend could sign in and post as his main character, but couldn't choose his other character to post as, if he wanted to do that.

Anyways, that's fixed. Been fixed for quite a while now. So you can log in and choose whichever character you wanna post as.

The WoW forums display your character and level. Where do they get this info? Well, the very same databases that the game gets your info. Thus when those databases are undergoing maintenance themselves you are prevented from logging into the forums.

If you already where logged into the forums than you stay logged in since your character info was already cached.

Not being able to log into the forum when the servers are down also has the nice side effect of preventing thousands of "OMG I can't log in WTF!!!11One" messages from clogging up an already busy forum.
