Question about the War in Warcraft.Follow

How to ask this question without being flamed?

Okay first ask it here and not the official boards.
Second try to not say anyone is right or wrong.
Third admit I am a massive “Carebear” since I played my first MMO (In the regards that I believe it is more fun to care about people and help them, then to gain fun by beating them. I’ve played lineage 2 and Eve, so I’m not afraid of PvP.)

So then, why do the hardcore PvPers repeat over and over that the alliance and horde are at war and should treat the opposing side as KoS when most NPCs repeat over and over “We have a tentative peace.” Now often they add, “But it is failing” or “I am not sure for how long..” etc. And there are a few quests based on the idea that treaties are being broken.

Then to make matters worse every “bad” guy organization is working together regardless of Alliance or Horde. Venture Co, Burring Legion, most evil warlocks, Southsea Pirates, heck even Defias seem to employ other races. Every group you are sent to fight, seems to work together for their common goal, even if it is an evil one.

So why is it so many PCs hang onto the idea that this is a bloody vicious war and the enemy is KoS? Where does this idea come from? Because as I see it, it does not truly come from the lore of World of Warcraft.

Imios pretty much got it on the head there. Although I'd be more willing to chalk it up to immature ganker 13yr olds who get their jollies offa lol!!111!! pwnz0ring the n00b sux0rs.... and then feel guilty and have to justify it.

Remember, the orcs were only evil because Manoroths blood tainted them. Tauren arn't evil, they allied with the Orcs against the Gnolls, and consider Thrall to be a noble and honorable leader. Trolls... well, they are wicked little devils according to the lore actually. Undead... err, hard to tell really. Scourge undead = evil, Horde undead = ???.

Isreal and Palistine aren't at war but there's battles between them all the time.

Put it this way, the Horde and Alliance joined forces to beat back the Burning Legion, but now each has things the others want, or has a culture the other can't abide.

Land, religion, culture, etc..

There's a truce, but along the frontier truces don't exist.
