Why did you choose your class? Stats or fun?Follow

Seen alot of "what is best class at PvP" and "what class has best dps" questions lately.

So got me thinking, is this how people choose what class to play? Because what is considered "best"?

When I chose to play Hunter I never considered how it ranks next to the other classes, I picked it because it was the job I thought I'd have the most fun playing.

Remember, there is no right or wrong answer. I'm just asking out of curiousity. Each persons reason is as valid as the next.

So why did you pick your class?

Because it's the best soloer?
Best at PvP?
Your guild/group needed that type?
Best DPS?

Why?

Quite simple, my dear Seoman. I choose my class for fun and alittle bit of challange. Seeing as everybody decided to bad mouth the warrior class, I wanted to give it a try during open beta. Now, I'm used to playing as a support class and not 100% sold to melee classes like in other MMOs but I fell in love with the warrior class in WoW. So many options for different situations in battle sold me in terms of complexity and I cannot wait to drive this class to 60.

Props to Blizzard and the great warriors before me for showing me the class at its best. Now it's my turn to see how much shine I can get out of this jewel.

I picked Hunter.

Basically, because I played RDM in FFXI and I did not want to play a mage again in WoW. I played with the idea that when I took RDM to 75, I would level RNG as my next job.

Since Hunter is similar to RNG and as a plus you can have a pet, it struck me as interesting and fun.

In addition, I wanted to get away from the support role and become more involved in dishing out the damage, which the class seems to do so well.

I picked Orc because my guild was Horde ... I originally wanted to be Alliance... Good thing I wasn't... Those greedy bastards!

I picked Hunter because I had played it in OB and it was fun. I tried Rogue and it just didn't do it for me ... Although I'll probably go back and play Rogue again one day.

Of course - given the time it seems to take experienced players to get to 60, I'll probably get a chance to play many jobs. If it takes 8 days to get to 60, I could have 8 characters to 60 in the amount of time I played FFXI in the past year!!! I guess it would be kind of fun to have a high level Hunter, Rogue, Mage, Shaman ...

... I'm supposed to be studying ... damn wireless internet in the library!

I chose troll shaman because of the artwork in the Blizzard site. I thought it looked good and was very intriguing. I didn't have any idea what the class played like at all.

You see, when two posts love eachother, they "come together" to create on beutiful double post, that double post is then edited into a nice mature post of its own.

It falls under the "your guild made you because they needed that class for instances" reason. Smiley: grin

I played D&D, along time ago with some friends: so I just re-created some of the peoples character that played. But what I though was going to be my main character Female Elf warrior:Aeryna(lvl.15), I hardly ever play. Instead I have the most fun playing a Dwarven hunter: Grimwall(lvl.25) I also have a Human mage:Trixstan(lvl.10). My character of ilidan is a Undead priestess(lvl.10). So all my characters are for pure fun.

Nightelf Hunter
Well I picked it for the solo ability and to have fun. I played a wizard for 4 years on EQ and just tired of all the medding I had to do and the downtime. So when I was looking at this game when it was going through beta I made my mind up to go hunter, and so far I have enjoyed it alot.
A lot of people think that ohh this is the best class or that one is the best class, but all have there downfalls and advantages regardless of the game.

NE Hunter.

I came from FFXI. On top of the list of my favorite classes other than Samurai happened to be Ranger and Beastmaster. Well, Hunter is basically a combo of both RNG/BST (something you wouldn't be able to get away with in FFXI). So far I'm loving it, although I might try out either a Human PLD or Tauren Warrior, who knows.

First class i played was a Hunter in open beta, because i played a Beastlord in EQ and loved that class. I never actually got him to pet level in beta. Instead, i saw some Shaman throwing around totems and thought, "Hey, that looks cool!" so i made one. Loved the class, was good fun, and now in retail i made a Shaman as my main. I've since gotten him to level 20, and for a break remade my Orc Hunter. Once again started getting bored with him around level 8, it was really a chore to play him. But i decided to grind through to 10th for the pet... and that changed everything. Absolutely loving the hunter now, and each time i get to the character select screen its getting harder to pick my Shaman. I expect soon enough the hunter will surpass my Shaman in levels, and i think i'll stick with him till 60. Maybe then go back to the ole bull-head.

I'll take Mage, Because i hav always been, adn will always continue to be, a Mage. In every game i have the opportunity, i will be a Mage.

Hey all. I came over from FFXI playing a WHM, so I chose Priest because it most resembled what I played over there in terms of healing people and buffing. If anyone is on the Zul'Jin server, feel free to say hi ^_^.

I noticed no one has given this response yet so I'll bite. I picked Warlock because I wanted to play something that there wasn't already a ton of.

I almost picked priest, but in the end it was a toss-up and Warlock won. I don't know why, but I hate playing "popular" classes (rogue, paladin, hunter). That might not be a viable reason lol, but I'm having a blast so far. ^^

I picked it because it was the cheapest char I could buy on ebay at the time.

Just kidding, I'm just practicing for when I try out for SeomanP's guild. Plus I wanted graynomas to sign me up for some nifty email lists lol.

I picked my race which is human and class which is warrior for the sole reason of joining a friend in the same area. I wanted to be a Night Elf orginally but I would have not been able to start off with him. I was to scared to make that run. hehe

Yeah, I play on Hyjal, which is PvE, so I obviously don't care a whole lot about PvP.

I also like that WoW is new, and thus, not everyone has an idea of what's "best," or how certain classes "should be." So I don't even have people who could say "you chose what? They suck!" yet, and maybe I never will.

I chose Warlock because well...they're warlocks. How can you beat demon-summoning? You just can't. I love summoning magic of any kind in any game, and this is no exception. I also love the idea of choosing power and knowledge over what everyone else thinks magic "should" be used for, in an in-game sense. Warlock is awesome, and that's why I play it. Hell, I have no idea what anyone else is playing or why half the time - I'm having too much fun.

Well I have a crapload of characters so I can try all the different tradeskills. Smiley: yippee

My hunter is the highest, at 17. I've always liked ranged classes and I've always like pet classes. Downside with most pet classes I've played in the past is that they're mages... and mages tend to be paper-thin when a mob gets in close. Enter the hunter... ranged, pet, and doesn't go down in two hits if a mob catches him from behind. So it's a very good class for me.

I have a 12 warlock... pet class, range, but not as cool as the hunter because he has a glass jaw. That succubus pet sure looks wicked, though... Smiley: inlove

Also have a rogue at 11, a shaman at 8 or 9, and a warrior at 8. They're all pretty cool, now that I think about it. Smiley: waycool

In open beta I started a Tauren Shaman. After playing to 16 I decided to mess around on Alliance side and made a Night Elf hunter and had a blast.

When retail hit I started a Tauren Hunter, and am now at lvl 25 and enjoying myself. Started a guild, worked my butt off to get us a Tabard, and have been having fun in Ashenvale hunting down and slaughtering Night Elf npc's and avoiding high lvl alliance players since I am open game for them.

I chose my race and class for the fun factor and nothing else, since I imposed my will on my friends and made them go horde.
