Best gun toting class?Follow

Ok, after seeing the videos of WoW with the dwarf wielding a gun... I am even more uber excited about getting the game. But since the game is completely sold out everywhere here in Australia and with blizzard underestimating our MMORPG market, I have to wait a while before I can play this game.
I am uber hyped, but I have been doing some reading and I have seen that both Rogue and Hunter can wield guns.
Which class has the better stats for wielding guns?

NB: I will be playing Gnome Mage primarily, the gun toter will be my secondary. I was previously considering Rogue but checked out Hunter and liked it. The gun is what will tip the scales.

I'm still a newbie to an extent, but I think Hunters are better with guns, Dwavern Hunters while you're at it, bring along a pet and you'll do well.

Well I made a new character that was a Troll rogue and seems to work well, espeially since they have the throwing weapon bonus. As I said though I'm a newbie too, only got this game last Friday. (btw last post for me for now)

I'm a NE hunter with guns. :p
It's nice. Beats bows IMO.

Hunters get abilities and talents that pertain to guns/bows. Rogues only get to shoot them.

If you want to wield a gun very effectively, go with Hunter. They're natural marksman.

As the above have posted, Dwarven Hunters are your best bet for a rifle-totin' character. Here's a couple reasons why:

1) Dwarves have a racial trait of +5 to rifles. All Dwarves get this, but it's naturally better for a Hunter as ranged combat is their bread and butter. I have yet to really see the benefit of the 5-higher skill cap, it's better to have more skill naturally, but I've not been able to compare apples to apples. Also, gear is going to trump racial bonuses anyway, even if you have more gun skill you can skill get out-damaged by someone with better equipment.

2) Dwarven Hunters START with a gun, no need to collect money or hope for a drop. So you'll be skilling rifle immediately, no need to have to "catch up" your rifles skill to the level of the mobs you're dealing with.

3) There is no three, but you just can't have a two item list, can you? =)

Hunter.

There is no other answer.

Hunter is the ranged weapon specialist, has abilities to take advantage of ranged weapons.

A Rogue with a gun will be no where near as good as a Hunter with a gun.

Dwarves and Tauren start with guns. Dwarves get the +5 bonus.

BTW, Rogues thrown weapon is different from ranged weapon.

Yes, I was just mentioning a race I thought would make a good rogue, since the OP was talking about them too. Since rogues start with throwing weapons and Trolls have a specialization with them (wonder why it isn't polearm though..), that'd probably be the best race for Rogue.

Yes EricGraham I know you hate me =) but anyway, rogues start out with a throwing axe and Trolls are good with them, so if you wanted to use throwing weapons then you should be a Troll. I agree that guns and bows are better damage-wise though.

If you want pure, ranged combat go with a Hunter. They have tons of abilities using marksmanship and have an entire segment of their talent tree dedicated to it. Plus the fact that you can give your pet growl and let him take all the hate makes it so much easier.

I'd go with hunter, but I may be a bit partial :)

As a Rogue, I can tell you that ranged weapons are the last thing you want to concern yourself with. Getting up close, and personal (generally while stealthed) is how we put the hurting on. If your playing the ranged game your really putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Thats why I personally havent botherd learning bow, or gun with my rogue. Its a waste of money to learn the skills, and throwing knives are much cheaper then upgrading bows/guns and ammunition.

It doesnt make sence to sink money into skills that dont benefit us in any way. The only time I ever use ranged attacks is to either pull mobs to camp, or finish off runners. And for that a throwing knife serves its purpose just fine.

If you wanna use guns.. be a hunter. Probably a Dwarven hunter at that. (thats actually the next character im gonna make for myself :p)
