Quick question about graphics cardFollow

Hello everyone, I had a quick question about a certain type of video card (sorta): Looking at a PC "Integrated in Intel 915G Chipset, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 900." Now I've seen the WoW video requirements website and I know that this chip is supported, but does it run the game even half decently? If not, then how well does it run it? I dunno if I will get the PC or the game, but I was just wondering, and also so I would be able to save $200 if I were to get the game and PC, and if the chip on the mobo of this PC was good enough to run WoW. Thanks.

You get what you pay for ...

In this case, you're contemplating a system with essentially no graphics card. It's a graphics chip attached to the motherboard that uses your RAM (instead of it's own dedicated video RAM).

A viable alternative is the ATI Radeon 9200 SE 128 Meg, which can be found for as little as $50 and is a HUGE improvement over onboard graphics.

So yes, it will run. But no - it won't run very quickly or look particularly good.

I have a Ati 9700 pro hope that runs fine.

So will the 9200 SE 128mb run the game at max settings and at full enjoyability?

No ...

For that, you're going to want at least a Radeon 9600 XT. Preferably, you're going to want a Radeon 9800 XT or a Radeon X900 with 256 megs of VRAM.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Btw, this PC that I found has support of PCI-Express x16 and not for AGP x8, so I suppose the 9600 and 9800 won't work. However, I have been previously suggested by someone else to look at GeForce 6600GT. Is this a rather expensive alternate, and is there a cheaper card for PCI-E that can run the game at max settings? Thanks

In that case:

(note: I'm partial to ATI cards over nVidia, that's just my opinion)

x300 is decent.
x600 is good
x800 is very good.
x900 is great.

If "max setting" is your goal, go with at least an x600 256.

Hmm, is the game still enjoyable without max settings? Because if I can still enjoy the game's graphics without having max settings, then I would prefer to have a cheaper card and live with that instead of spending loads of cash. So an x300 is a decent card for this? Or would it be better to get the better one now and not have to upgrade for another while?

Yes - the game is very enjoyable without max setting.

Personally, I play on my Gaming PC at max settings, my bro's computer at medium setting and my laptop at min settings.

The game looks good, even at minimum settings. With medium settings, you will be happy.

Other things to be considered for good performance:

- RAM - you want at least 512 megs of RAM to avoid slowdown in populated/busy areas

- Monitor - DON'T get a cheap LCD with 25 MS response time. If you want a nice picture, make sure you either get a CRT (box) monitor or an LCD with a refresh rate of 75 Hz and a response time of 16 MS or better.

If you're concerned with budget, go with the x300 SE 128 meg. It's a decent card from what I've read, and great bang for your buck. On a good system, it might be able to run max settings, and will definitely perform very well with medium settings.

Good luck and happy hunting!

This is the comp I'm looking at: this PC. And this is the monitor I'm looking at cuz it's relatively cheap. Are these good deals? The PC looks like a great deal to me, but I since I don't build PCs or anything, I wouldn't really know. Could somebody give me some advice in case I decide some time in the future that I would like to buy a PC? (if I ever get money that is lol)
