Question about Quest OrderFollow

Hey guys I have some questions about quests.

A friend of mine, NephthysWanderer, and I, are trying to get together to do some quests. He's a Human Paladin and I'm a Night Elf Druid. I have a lot of quests done in Auberdine, and he has quite a few from that area done as well. We want to try and do some Auberdine quests together, and my question is this.

What makes a quest become available? Is it the level of your character? I know that some quests have a linear order, but there should be some available to him that don't have a "prequel", right? Are some of them based on your level of honor in that town?

Guess I just want to know if we'll always be struggling to have quests together or if we will be able to start up in a new area and have the same quests, then just continue on from there.

Also, what is the requirement to share a quest? Of course quests with prequels make sense that you can't jump steps, but are there any other "requirements" other than that?

So different from the last MMO I played :) thanks for your help.

Yes, quests seem variable on level. Usually if a quest needs a pre-req, the same NPC doles out that quest too, so Neph will have to catch up, but will be able to eventually do all the quests there of his level. You can also share quests if he doesn't have them yet, if he doesn't want to go back and get all that "reputation."

You still have to meet the requirements for that quest in order to be able to share it. Basically its a way to give someone a quest in the field they could get in the town.

Ahh ok that makes sense...it wouldn't be right to give quests out for newbies to someone level 20, so having the level matter is a great idea. I am sure we'll be able to find some to do together, if we gain a couple levels together then we can move on to a new area and start over. Thanks for the input!

I'm fairly certain that the quests that become available has alot to do with your reputation in that area.

I've noticed that as my Ironforge and Stormwind reputation rise, I'm seeing more !'s than before.

Edit: This may also be due to my higher level, but I'm fairly certain that a NE that got to a considerable level (20+) on the wenstern continent would have to do alot of the 'lowb' quests before some of the highers ones become available.

I could be wrong, however.

I'm still trying to figure out how quests work. I know there's been a couple of quests my Tauren friend has tried sharing with me but can't--such as the well cleansing quests in Bloodhoof.

I'm not sure if it's reputation or level that influences quests. As a Troll I'm just halfway through Neutral in UC yet I was able to travel there and get The Power To Destroy (a Ragefire Chasm quest) and The Book of Ur (a level 26 Shadowfang Keep quest) at around 19 or 20. I think it's level that determines all this.

Assuming your friend is of level to get all those quests, and is willing to do the prerequisite quests in the zone, the only quest he would not do is "Onu", which is a Teldrassil quest.

If he wants to do everything, start with Buzzbox 1, checking the furbolg camp, capturing a bear, and checking out the beached sea creature. (Return to town.)
Second, swim out by the dock for Washed Ashore, kill threshers as you swim north for Buzzbox 2, and then run over to Bashal'Aran for the quests there and finish up with the crystal.
Third, go back to the crystal and turn south to Ameth'Aran. Kill furbolgs in the camp for How Big a Threat? and random rabid bears for Plagued Lands and go back.
Fourth, pass by Bashal'Aran to complete that, and continue to the den mother cave and the mushroom cave. Go up to the end of the river and jump off the bridge to the waterfall to bottle some water. The third buzzbox is here for your moonstalker fangs as well. Kill crabs to the west of the river on the beach, and follow the shore back to town, looking for beached sea creatures. (Cave Mushrooms opens up the quest to see Onu and get the Master's Glaive. I mention this because it isn't at all obvious.)
Fifth, go south down the road and visit Onu at the Oracle Glade. Kill moonstalker sires and grizzled bears nearby for two quests, and head into the Master's Glaive to place the scrying bowl and collect the book. (Do the escort quest if you've got some assistance.)
Sixth, go north up to The Tower of Althalaxx, and proceed to the Ruins of Mathystra after that for the relics quest. There is one beached sea creature on the north beach you probably haven't seen, and there is a gnome standing on a rock at the far north end that gives you the two Gyromast quests. Do the first one.
Seventh, go south down the coast and grab whatever sea creatures you can find. There are 5 in all if you're feeling daring with the level 20 murlocs. Come in-land when you've had enough and find Remtravel's Excavation Site for the Absent Minded Propsector. Whether or not you actually try until you pass the quest, move east when you are done to where the polar bear is on the road, marking a cave for you. Do Escape by Stealth unless you think you can handle fighting out easily enough.

That should just leave Gyromast's Revenge and Vast Ocean, Deep Sea. DO NOT DO VAST OCEAN! That quest is allegedly level 14 or 15, but I have wiped on it repeatedly at level 19 **with a group**

My main is a Tauren hunter...but my favorite alt is a troll rogue. So I have a friend with a Tauren that she just started up. I ran my troll rogue to Mulgore to help her out, having done all of the quests with my hunter previously.

I figure I can pick up some of the more generic quests, but figured the line of quests that involve becoming part of the tribe...vision questing, talking to the spirit at the burial grounds...those would be off limits to a non-tauren, right?

Wrong. I got them and completed them. I was actually kind of disappointed that I got the quests. Seems like that should be Tauren only. I am RPing it though...I am a special troll in the eyes of the Tauren...kind of a "Troll Called Horse" scenario. (if you do not get the reference, nevemind...hehe)
