Hopefully to start a thread to prevent ppl from smacking their heads at level 40+ when a pal tells them "You didnt know to shift+right click to pick up stuff?!?"

-Dont forget to use your hearthstone (was flying back and forth between 2 cities before I realized I could teleport to home...)

-The strategy guide (although very expensive) is a god-send in terms of quests....they have the zone names for all maps, what mobs spawn where, where the quest givers are.

If you want to learn to cook, start early. In my experience at least, all the early recipes use ingredients from low-level mobs... so either save all that stringy wolf meat until you do get cooking or leg it to the nearest cooking trainer while you're still killing wolves and boars and such.

hearthstone, i wouldnt suggest useing it all that much. cuz in times of need, like on a raid in alliance in and aorund goldshire, you might need your hearth to get out, beacuse it has a hour cooldown >< long time... long long time when you need to leave alliance terr if you dont have a warlock to help you get out you are pretty screwed. (this is not a god forsaken flame!!!!!!!!)

1 hour isn't too long, the satanic 2hr abilities in FFXI were far worse, most wouldn't even help when you used them.

BlackMage -- ManaFront -- Most mages who are out of MP sit down to heal it up, never saw a BLM use this past level 20

RedMage -- ChainCast -- They already get FastCast as a Trait so what are you thinking?! only times this was used was to raise Parties ^^

DarkKnight -- BloodWeapon -- They use Scythes so what was the point they might get 2-3 hits off and if 1-2 of those hit they would recieve some HP then... die.

Don't want to grab my dusty FFXI guide and sorry to go on a tangent but these are just a few abilities I would have gladly traded for a hearthstone and the 1hr wait ^^

my skinning was around level 130 before i even knew that i had a leatherworking icon under my abilities. i had sold stacks and stacks of leather for 1.5 silver a stack to npcs instead of using them to level up my leatherworking.

Buy Bags. Buy Bags. Buy Bags. Buy Bags. Buy Bags.

No, really, buy them. Head to the auction house asap and buy yourself some bags. I didnt, thinking it was a luxury i didnt need and relied upon finding a bag on mobs. At level 19 i had my newbie pack and two 6-slot bags. Finally, i decided to buy more, found four 8-slot bags being sold for 9s each, bought em all. The difference is amazing, hunting is far less frustrating and involves a lot less destroying of items. I dont know how i lived without em now.

Other thing is Armor Kits. Now, being a leatherworker myself, i know about these and have used em since 5 minutes after training in leatherworking. But for those who dont : Use em! A medium armor kit adds 16 armor to your chest, leg, foot and hands locations (so you will need 4 kits) and you DONT need leatherworking skill to use a kit. I sell my kits for about 14s for 4 kits. So how about upgrading your armor by 64 points for a measly 14s? Bargain. I am told it doesnt even matter what armor you are upgrading, cloth leather mail or plate, but i've only used them on leather myself since thats what i wear.

Dont be afraid to barter your own services or items.

Want a bag? Ask for a tailor and find out how much a bag runs if you provide the linin/wool/silk. If you dont do tailoring, your not gonna use quite all that stuff they drop. Your better off bartering and saving your coin. (though if they dont charge you anything, tip, keep your suppliers happy)

Services for Services. Be willing to barter for other stuff. You might make out like a bandit. Have a hunter that also tailors. We trade crafted shot for whatever I want, him to make. I traded a mech squirrel to someone for the two malachite and a crap ton of potions. We both walked away from that deal very happy.

Dont forget to repair your items. Not all games require you do this, and if you dont remeber, well... eww.

Oh! One of the more important things is to realize that the location of most of the items, NPC's and mobs for your current quest are hinted at or just flat out told to you in the quest log. Use the quest log; it's your friend!
