Night Elf or Human Shadow Priest?

Not planning to play as the Horde.

1) Desperate Prayer has a 30 min cooldown for Human Priests while StarShards has a lower DPS than Mind Flay.

2) Feedback seems useless to my Human Priest. We all know that Priests will always MISS targets in melee combat.

3) Elune Grace doesn't help because Monsters do like >100 Range Damage?

4) Does ShadowMeld work during combat?

5) Is StarShards a DOT or Channelling or Instant spell?

Although i dislike shadow priests

shadowmeld is immobile stealth, meaning once your in combat your unable to stealth.

And feedback would still be rather nice. I find myself meleeing at the end of fights almost every time, since my staff has good dps, and no, I don't miss as much as you would think(keep the skill up and you wont).

1) Actually, it has a higher DPS, just lower DPM. I'd take Mind Flay any day though.

2) Priests don't miss ALL the time. As long as you keep your weapon skills capped, you should at least flub-hit most of the time.

3) Elune's Grace is worthless. Especially since it's self-only.

4) Shadowmeld is strictly stand-still out-of-combat. It's a way to go to the bathroom safely, basically.

5) Channeling. It's pretty worthless.

The main racial draw for the Night Elf is shadowmeld. The main draw for human is (imho) Desparate Prayer, with a side of spirit bonus. If you're strictly trying to pick teh best of teh best, humans are probably the superior choice. That won't stop me from playing a NE though.
