It does, sorta. They are just spelled g-n-o-m-e. ;) They do start with more Mana than the other races I believe in any of the mage jobs.

Comparisons are going to happen between all of these, and you're not going to stop them by writing this inane post. People compare FF games to Tales games, and the Guilty Gear series to the King of Fighters series, and Sonic games to Mario games.
And guess what else? People also compare books, and music, and computers, and occupations, and food, and stores, and pretty much everything else becuase they happen to have at least the similarity of being in the same category of some kind. Welcome to being a human and talking with other humans.

It is one thing to use a comparison to FFXI (or EQ for that matter) to get an idea of something (for example, in FFXI I would do this for tradeskills, what is the comparable action in WoW?)...which is what the apologists claim when they say it is going to happen...but that is not what is happening.
Saying that 'what this game needs is....fill in the blank with something from another MMO" is really quite idiotic, isn't it? It is not that other game. It is a new game. Presumably a better game (if not, go back to the old one and let those of us who are playing WoW enjoy it).

Oh, by the way, what this game needs is a Plane Of Knowledge, where we can all take books to get from zone to zone...oh, and a monk class, and an Iksar race while we are at it. I do not care that none of it fits into the story line or that I can get all of that in my old MMO...I want to play this one and ***** about what it does not have....Oh, and I like the flak cannon from Unreal Tournament...can my tauren hunter get one of those?

lhuffman...I understand what you're saying. I'll admit that I don't read every thread on this forum, and therefore don't know the extent to which the FFXI-talk has gone, but the OP presented him/herself as a moron who just hates FFXI and wants it to go away.
If it had been even half as well written as yours, with an explanation as to how annoying the posts are, I probably would have rated it up. I guess I'll just rate yours up instead then, eh?

Heres an idea for alla, make a damned sticky on a GOOD comparisons thread, maybe even one for each, yes,eachmmorpg that is commonly stated, FFXI, WoW ( doh), CoH, L2, EQI/II, etc etc etc.
With the sticky = no more stupid threads like this, or stupid threads that stupid threads like this complain about, ( made by some ..."stupid" people). So perhaps now we can sleep at night, knowing we have contributed to the alla forums... (take a chill pill about flaming threads, they are always gonna be there, come up with a solution if you complain, makes life a lot more productive.)

there is just things that you wish from other games that cold be put into the one your playing like everquest had full PvP where anyone can kill off anyone FFXI had chocobos and a vary easy to ues interface so as you can see there is know such thing as the perfect game so quit ragging on someone for compareing things to something

Hey guys, I have a news flash for you... everyone has their opinions on things, and if you aren't wanting to hear them, DON'T READ ABOUT THEM. Just because a post says "this game isn't as good as FFXI" or anything like that doesn't mean you have to read it and tell them that they are stupid because they don't like the same thing as you. They aren't saying "this game needs Taru's and anyone who plays it is stupid because the game doesn't have taru's" they are simply saying "I wish this game had taru's" which is a completely honest and simple opinion that they think.

Take a deep breath and smell the roses, then go dance in Elwynn Forest or something, im sure you can find some Defias to tango with... (wierd thoughts...but they got that bandana all ready for the fancy twists and such...wonder if there are any roses anywhere...)
