People have hit Level 60s!Just as I expected, it is a RogueFollow

Here's a link to a screenshot:
http://www.redrival.com/lineage2/screenshot.jpg

7 days and 6 hours of /played time, accomplished in about 10 days since the game went retail along with all the server hiccups and downtime.

Just as I expected, it is a Rogue (I keep saying their damage is too high, and yes, I had a level 55 rogue myself during beta).

Well WoWs weekest point is that you level too fast no matter what class you have. Personaly I would rather see that it takes around 40 days to get lv 60 if you play for 16-18 houers aday.

Theyre working on putting content in, and not useless level bumps.

This seems less of Blizzards problem in game length rather this is a person who simply has no or very very very... little life. Thats like 75% of his time playing a game i guess that leaves time for a little sleep and maybe 1 meal if u hurry. Well at least he gets his money worth =).

This isn't like EQ or DAoC or any of the number of other games out there that didn't come out with high level encounters. They have many and more are being worked on. So, when other people get to 60, this guy will have something to do still.

I like the rate of advancement. Level 60 is a whole new ballgame with raids and great instances, and for the people that want to play non-stop to get there, I think that's fine. Personally, I'm questing and having fun doing so without giving up my entire life to a game. The fact is that I play rarely, but I'm level 20 (and I didn't get the game until a couple of days after it came out). That's a nice advancement curve for the early levels.

i dont understand why people take issue with the possibility of quick leveling...

of course it's possible... but you're also going to miss out on so much. is he even following the storyline? or just finishing levels for xp?

that's totally cool if that's how he plays, but i play every free chance i get and i'm only at level 23. i'm totally cool with that.

Some people play for fun, other play because they want to "beat" the game and hit the cap as fast as possible..
I am happy with my 18 Hunter ^^;

To me, you just have to accept and know that it will take you longer to level. :P Just respect the guy, don't say that he has no life. Just leave him alone. Jeez...

So what your saying is, is that this game has a weak point in leveling you too fast. Your saying this of course comparing it to someone who has been there since the very begining of CB.

The guy in that picture has already been playing the game longer then most have been following it along with the guild he is in. He reached level 60 with god knows how many characters during CB. He knew everything he needed to know to get where he wanted to be. He knew the quests, the mobs, the equipment.

His goal, and the goal of his guild memebers was to hit 60 as fast as possible. They made parties to do ALL the instances so as to not have to wait on random people. HOW in all that is great about this game bring it down by comparing it to someone who not only made it his goal to get to 60 first, but also KNEW everything that was in front of him.

funny thing is theres a 60 mage a 60 druid and a 60 hunter on my server that i have seen and hes getting super excited about it

its gonna take me a while to get up there cus i cant seem to decide which class i wanna play, ive got rogue mage warrior shaman druid and hunter all up to 12-13 and dont know what i want to play
#15 Dec 07 2004 at 12:54 AM Rating: Decent
Personally I think that it is probably pretty easy to get to level 60 in a quick manner if all you do is grind. However, I really don't think that is what they have in mind for this game, if it was, it would just be EQ with cartoony graphics. After 4 years of everquest i can honestly say i really appreciate the quests and the side projects along the way.

I have been playing for about 3-4 hours a day and have 2 level 10 characters. I bought the game the day it came out. Now, all i have really done are quests and just exploring zones, but i know that if i were playing EQ and i had 40 hours of play time in i would very easily have a level 30 character by now. That person obviously didn't do a whole lot of questing and just found the good grind spots so he could say he hit 60 first, and there isn't really anything wrong with that.

All the people that are saying leveling is too fast just aren't playing the game the devs designed it to be played. It's a great game for all aspects, but i just think there is so much more to the story and the experience than just grind grind grind. Guess thats why i picked it.

But still, give the guy credit, thats a pretty good accomplishment no matter the circumstances.

I love the game, but it is sad you can cap in two weeks, I mean whats the point, just my opinion. I mean at that rate you could cap every job in like 1.5 months playtime.
#17 Dec 07 2004 at 11:51 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah, it is pretty sad that you can reach the cap within a couple of weeks. I'm sure Blizzard has a lot of end game content planned, but is it enough to keep someone entertained for a few months? That is my main concern. I don't think Blizzard will implement enough end game content to let the game endure. I mean there might be enough to keep me entertained for a month or 2 after I reach 60, but after that they'll have to constantly implement new stuff to give people things to do...

Well being a former Rng/nin on Odin in FFXI, I can say it takes time to level only b/c there is no "REAL" soloing in FFXI except for Beastmaster. I can see a Static party get to lvl 50 in about 2-3 weeks or about 5-7 days of playtime in FFXI if they dont have to worry about money to finance their level grind. In FFXI this was done 1 of 2 ways: 1 buy gil, or 2 have a high character already and u have the cash, so leveling a 2nd job would be EZ compared to the 1st time around.

With WoW, yes u can grind it out but the fun is getting to the final levels and there is still more fun at the end unlike FFXI where endgame is getting kinda blah with less invites, and less higher people and limited endgame quests...Dynamis, Gods or HNM with different timezones and all the usual FFXI partying problems, wife aggro etc that finally made me quit. IT JUST TOOK TOO LONG PERIOD...it became work instead of fun or rewarding.

In WoW, I feel you can grind or quest and the quests are actually fun and give u GOOD REWARDS unlike some other games. That is what makes you good, if you do the quests and complete the storyline, than and killing the occasional Horde member with your 1337 LEET UBER Blue 2 handed Sword of HA HA U DEAD NOW ^^

Its that fun I miss, Im sure that lvl 60 didnt do much PvP did he??? Man thats 1/2 the fun there but in his defense, he got the boring part done, now he can cut loose with a fully loaded character with semi-decent equip and kill as was meant in this game.

WoW is wow in my book, the grind to 60 should then be EZ to a FFXI player, which he probably was and wanted to finally CAP something... I can relate..

Thanks for listening to my rant...

This is the one thing that concerns me about this game.

Hitting cap so soon. I heard about this story and this character, and alot of my friends refused to believe me that anyone could hit the level cap this soon. They told me I was wrong, and no way in hell could someone hit the cap that soon. They refused to believe me. Nice now, that I will have links and whatnot to prove them that I knew wtf I was speaking about.

Speaking from personal experience in all the MMO's I have been, namely, Asheron's Call 2, (( Cough *Sucked* Cough )) I knew by the way people were talking, that this was indeed entirely possible.

Yes, he knew the game really well. Yes he knew how to get there very very quick. The problem that others do not see, is that soon, within a month or 2, so too will they know how to make the best Exp/Hour, Best Gold, Best gear, patterns etc.

This is not a slow game. It goes very quickly. It is one the things that is sadly, keeping me away from it. That and I come to find out IMO people STILL can't do long haired human avatars right like I want to have for my male Character. I'd play a Male Night Elf but of course due to beliefs/history they can't be a warlock. Which is what I would desire to play. ~Grumbles~

I realize WoW is designed to be a casual game, but the problem is the inherent desire for all gamers to want to hit the cap, to get the best armor etc in the game. Not all of us are this way, but most are.

Soon people run out of stuff to do. And then, as I have seen in the past, patches are released etc and the players go through the content in a few days or less, then cry there is nothing to do.

Asheron's call 2 is a horribly prime example of what can go wrong when people level up too fast. People in that game from launch, and for a while after, were capable of hitting level 35 from level 1 in a single day. Dare I say hours. I am not kidding.

WoW does indeed go a bit slower then that I think. I don't think that this game has something as so obviously abused as Fetich Spawn incursions, but still.

I honestly, and sincerely hope Blizzard gives people plenty to do after they cap. Otherwise I see this game stagnating. I should note that Blizzard probably has the resources to keep people entertained and going on, hopefully releasing new quests and content that people won't chew through in days after a patch comes out or whatnot.

Well, I hear some of you say, Just make a new character!

Yes, speaking from experience, I have done that in other various games. Then what happens when you cap those too? Grow bored with it. You've done everything in a few months there is to do, and you are at the top of the heap...with nothing left to do but log in and chat.

I should note that this is very much a worse case scenario. But I am sure some of you guys can understand where I am coming from. I really would like to try out this game. I play FFXI and love it personally, will not let it go. That is just me. And No I Don't play a Mage job in that game. I'm a Mithra Dark Knight. Level 60 Recently.

But still, I think it would be nice to try out this game, log in for an hour or so, play something a little refreshing and get some solo exp, then do whatever else I want to do. You know, play it casually.

Like I said...the only thing concerning me is the fact that people can hit cap so quick. :-/

That is the one thing keeping me from this. It is my foremost and primary concern.

Ah well, my 2 Gold.

IF they hit lvl 60 that fast they just prolly wanted to immortalise themselves as "THE GUY WHO GOT TO 60 FIRST" LOL. no big deal.
And all you guys who complain about "OMG you can cap in 4 day's this game is gonna die cuz there will be nothing to do" trust me if they capped in 4 days's they didnt do very many quests or were just rushing as fast as they coud to become "THE GUY WHO GOT TO 60 FIRST!!" no big deal :p

I came from SOE mess of a game starwars galaxies and there was literally NOTHING to do in that game, i mean really when i think about it my whole experience with it was grind grind grind grind girnd grind...... grind grind grind grind girnd grind...... and then if i had time id go shopping. AND theny they nurfed all the money payouts so all the n00bs are super poor and all the rich become super rich, and tonnes of people still play it (who knows why when WOW is out)
but WOW is awsome, the quests are really neat and the cartoony style is awsome, and so are the graphics /drool mmmmm....good graphics. Seriously there is about 1 million things to do in this game NOT ONLY THAT BUT I CAN MAKE MULTIPLE CHARS ON THE SAME SERVER!!!! so even if i cap my rogue in 5 days (HAHAH crazy talk!! ill never do that, although it is possible) i can make a druid or a hunter, and not only that but all the professions there are to master too.

/meltsintothearmsofWOW
aahhhh.... im in Love :p

I've killed a few whelps (which were strangely enough, level 43, whereas there's a level 44+ dragon wandering around Alterac... weeeeird.) before. I've seen Somnus the level 62+ Green Dragon at the Pool of Tears the other day...

Anyways. Have you taken a look at the Thottbot page on his character? Let's just say, his gear is weak. My level 43 Rogue friend has better gear than that. See, when you powerlevel, you can't grind through instances with guildies to get the good equipment...

You know, this is the same "problem" I'm having. I put that in quotes because it's really not a problem at all. It means that more than one class is fun to me, which is always a great thing. I like rogue, priest, mage, warrior, druid, and warlock, for different reasons. In fact, what's even more indicative of that is the fact that I'm even considering levelling up multiple characters of the same class since with talents, the play experience and approach to each fight differs depending on what area a character is focused in.

At the end of the first stress test, I was sure I was going to be one of those folks shooting for the level cap in record time. I even took the time off work to do it. Smiley: tongue But after playing in OB, my perspective changed a great deal so now I'm at the point where I have to choose a "main" or level multiple toons and keep them all fairly close to each other in level.

From all that I've seen, it seems Blizzard is taking the opposite position to most MMOs. They're concentrating most of their focus to the upper end of the game from day one. So most of the new content and features are going to be focused on the upper half of the level spectrum. What makes them different from say, a Sony, is that they've actually put things in place that allow the majority of the playerbase to GET to those levels quickly (instead of a privileged few). I'm sure there will be encounters that require a great deal of organization (which is usually the domain of the "power guilds"), but if I had to venture a guess, I'd say those will be more the exception than the rule.
