Upgrading GF cardFollow

#1 Dec 01 2004 at 11:40 PM Rating: Decent
Hey guys, i was just wondering if upgrading my Graphics Card would have a great effect on gameplay speed/quality.

Right now my comp specs are:

AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 1.84 GHz, 512 Mb RAM and
NVidia GEForce FX 5200

I just ordered a XFX GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3 AGP Dual DVI & TV.

Should i also order another 512 Mb of RAM or am i good? thanks a ton!

Yeah RAM is like the most important things and cuts down on loading etc.
But yeah upgrading to that Graphics Card will have an impact on the speed/gameplay quality.

coming from somon running a 1.67ghz, 768 ram, 16mb (i know i know) geforce 420 mobile card, ide say that the GFX card is most important for me, i cant enter stormwind, or any of the big cities without logging in and out every district or i lose all visual content, Ram is next most important imo.
(please note i also have a virus jumping my CPU speed from 1.67, to 666mhz to 1.18 ghz, so it changes during gameplay, messing with performance, still looking into that issue).
If you want the best gameplay, you want the best hardware, thats an easy rule to judge by, if its fine for you, dont waste the money, you want more? get more. =) hope that helped.

I would up your RAM to 1024. That will take a lot of pressure off your system. There won't be as much swapping going on. You will have almost the same config as I do, and I run WoW at 1280x1024 with everything on "high". Enjoy the new card!
