Something rather strange happened to me as I was traveling to the Horde land doing my Warlock quest. I am a level 20 Human Warlock who played in OB. Before release, I did the quest and got slapped and tormented by the horde. I LOVED IT! I am not really that much of a PVP person, but I have to confess, I liked the treatment. It really put me into the story =)

However, this trip was rather dull, many a horde walked by and NOTHING. GET INTO THE STORY PEOPLE! I am your enemy. If I played a horde (which i plan on doing so) I would be doing the same thing to the opposition. Even if you don't plan on PVPing, just feel free to slap around the other side. Makes it fun!

New to WoW and not sure about why each side dwells hatred for one another?

May you all have great adventures!!

If you feel so strongly i recommend a pvp server... Im sure youve thought about it but if your looking for random scuffles, why not?

Hehe, you could be right. I was disappointed though. I know how crazy it sounded but I thought someone was going to try to PVP with me. But seriously, a group of Horde, standing around, and not a single /emote? Come on.. That never existed in OB.

You got lucky, for a second there I thought you were another lame flamer.

Until a friend of mine just recently got the game I was Orc on Illidan, and if had showed up in our territory I would have either killed you on site or if you were too high of level I would have called on others to help.

It's all about server. Not as many on PvE are into anything PvP related. Heck my friend isn't one for PvP, but he and I are playing on one because he like's the story conflict of it all. That and he REALLY want's in the future to be a part of raids.

Of course we are playing on the Alliance side on the server we are on now.

Message to any Kharma Trolls that read this: I had told this friend, who at the time was still playing FFXI that if he ever did leave and start WoW that i'd gladly start a character with him. Not sure how active i'll be with Balo on Illidan, but I will try not to let the character go completely.

We would be on Illidan, but he wanted to play on a lower population server.

Go on a roleplay server next time you feel like playing along with the story and getting tortured. Put your PvP flag on.

On my server if there are any sighting of the horde the Local Defence chat lights up and that horde member gets killed till they give up.

like others said, it could be you were just too strong for those you were passing...

it doesnt mean they werent yelling on their general chat about your existence and higherups were on their way to fight you but couldnt find you.

A usual day in the barrens:

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy1 : Alliance at Lushwater Oasis

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy2 : OMW

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy3 : Coming

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy4 : Me and my group are close, on our way

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy2 : Where'd they go?

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy3 : Can't find them

[3. Local Defense - Barrens] Guy4 : Crap, we lost them

This happens day in, and day out. We rarely actually get to kill schtuff, because they're always gone by the time people get there.

Many alliance I see run away from me.

A group I was in the other day while questing set up traps too in Stonetalon the other day too.

It was me a druid and 2 other rogues. The rogues were stealthed while the druid was in some animal form I didnt recognize. I sat there and typed /pvp.

There was another alliance pt in the area that had been hogging on the harpies in the area and we wanted to get rid of them. Sure enough, the saw just my lonesome sitting there NOW FLAGGED. Stupid paladin ran right too me while his 2 NE hunter buds hung back (are all NE, hunters?).

Frost Nova. Yep. One stuck paladin. Rogues pop out and make short work of him while myself and the druid kill off the 2 NE's pets. I sheeped one of the hunters and the other one managed to slip away. Shortly after we killed the hunter I caught.

To make a point, whenever I see 1 alliance by himself and he is flagged.....I look around hard and good to make sure hes by himself before I do anything. But yeah, I'll try to take his *** out.

I play on Silverhand. An RP server. Last night as I was showing a young Paladin friend of mine where Bingle was hanging out, local defense popped up withsomething along the lines of...

NPCBOB: HAAAALLLLPP!!! IMA GITTIN KILLED!!!

The responses were swift and varying. Of course we had several of the "Were on our way! Someone scout out and tell us whats going on!" A few went with the chicken hearted "Ill go if I dont get killed! Are they real tough? I dun wanna die?" These were marked for later ridicule. There were even a few "Uh.... Ill be there after I finish my ale." (I was after all in dwarven lands).

For the most part however, we had a good turnout rushing the gates of Dun Algaz. A party of mostly undead, lvl 20-25's had somehow managed to make their way to the tunnels there and when I got there it looked quite literally like all hell was breaking loose in those tunnels. AOE's were rampant and spells, bullets and body's were flying everywhere. I ran in and frost nova'd, then sheeped their mage who ended up staying that way till the last of his cohorts were dead. Even when they were down a good number of us worked our way back and forth over those tunnels looking for any that might have been sneakin.

We were victorious of course, and to be honest it was a heck of a lot of fun. I am a staunch hater of pvp, never having enjoyed it, but I have to admit it was a blast. Afterwards, they returned to their bodies, as soon as their pvp flag had dropped, and ran home with their tales between their legs and an escort of us good guys. It was fun. And I hope it was as much fun for the Horde players that attacked as it was for us. If any of you did showed up read this, thanks for making it an interesting night.

You have to remember that in open beta people knew characters would get wiped. Not much of a point pushing your character throught quests. Might as well stop and do some PVP.

Now that you get to keep you toon, people are rushing to level up and not stop and get into a fight.

Once the leveling pace slows down, I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to pass some time with PVP.

I swam to booty bay at lvl 19, then took the boat to ratchet. i've now gained two levels (i'll edit this when i get home and update my profile) doing ratchet quests. i played an ne in the stress tests and betas, and frankly, i was getting a little tired of westfall/ashenvale. so i've ran into alot of horde players. its kinda fun actually. some i just do a few friendly emotes with (it's one thing when you're out for some pvp action, its another when you're in a "neutral" town... and its yet another thing when you're in enemy territory as i never had the option to attack on sight a horde player. i'll kill any player close to my level on sight if i can, but only when i'm out and about in my own territory.) and then i ran into some of my emote friends from ratchet later, getting ready to fight them, and they just waved and moved along. and that was kind of nice, actually. i'm all for pvp, but the friendly human interaction is nice, if only because, not being able to hear or undertand the horde you get a wierd sort of alienated sense when fighting them.

fact is, all this "this is World of WARcraft" talk and the history of the races is less than compelling. on the one hand, unless i'm playing my rp character, then i see no reason to just run around horde territory picking a fight with someone way lower level than me. and yeah, i've read the history, and i've played all the rts games so many times i've got them memorized; but the factions are supposed to be a part of a tentative alliance. stop accusing people of being carebears or whatever (and no, i know you never used the term "carebear"). just because we're playing pvp doesn't mean we have to be the bloodthirsty gankers you would like all of us to be.

For a minute there Heena, I thought you were gonna complain about being attacked...plenty of that going on.

If you were on my server I would ahppily come and give you the offical horde 'welcome to our land alliance scum' greeting.

I think the PVE servers will pick up on the PVP play...I think that right now people are focusing on their characters too much...but that will change.

I bet you would have been slapped around on a PVP server though.
