Leveling soundFollow

OK, so in EQ it was DING!, as in "DING! level 20." In DOAC and AC, it was DING mixed with some NOT-DING etc.

Anyway, the sound that is actually made is more of a Whoosh than a ding in WoW.

So our guild was having the stop-saying-ding-this-is-not-EQ conversation and it was decided in our guild that we would instead say Boomshakalaka. "Boomshakalaka! Level 20"

It has caught on strong. We have a fairly large guild for how new the game is and the group is very active...so the boomshakalaka has become our levelling sound.

Maybe this should become the official levelling sound of WoW?

I second the motion to have 'Boomshakalaka' replace ding as the leveling sound in World of Warcraft.

I hate to even mention the devil - but FFXI has the best leveling sound by far ...

I honestly find the "Whoosh" (or as you like to call it, the "Boomshakalaka") in WoW somewhat lacking - it doesn't motivate me to jump around my room the way the FFXI tune did.

There was a pinball sound in knight online. Like "Ding-pinball", heh.

Not to be confused...Boomshakalaka is really not representative of the actual sound...it is what we declare to each other to announce a level.

That's just far too much typing to announce your joy... You want something simple and that's why Ding works, even if Ding never existed. I think "zang!" would work great too, especially if you're from Aurora, IL.

Strangely enough, we use BAM. I think someone was an Emeril fan or something. But it struck us as funny, and that's what we're using.

Emeril eh?

Had to do it haha. Not sure what I refer to the level sound as, but it sure isn't ding. I tend to not use any of the normal terms and cringe when people say stuff like "I just rolled a new toon and dinged so many levels rofl".

Yea, despite how much FFXI sucked, I would really enjoy a better FFXI like leveling sound. It just isent very satisfying. I batley even notice it if it wasent for the bright blast =/

Aww the eq ding was the best. Grinding not paying attention to the xp bar, scouting in a place like mistmoore castle, kill a mob and the ding! Make me jump out of my chair. Im gonna use ding, too attached to it.

Motion on the floor has been seconded. Motion is approved...

BOOMSHAKALAKA!

ZANG...DING...BAM...all too few letters to truly capture the joy and achievment in levelling.

Boomshakalaka...I am telling you, we have a 70+ person guild and this is the word that we all have adopted. It works great.

On an aside...do any of you hunters call out when your pet levels? We do in our guild. Heck, we all know the names of the other hunter's pets. Funny how those lil guys have endeared themselves to us.

I have a Raptor named Prickle - Gumby fans rejoice. And a plains patriarch lion named Scrappy.

I don't know what ya'll are talking about when you say the whoosh isnt distinctive. Seems plenty distinct to me, with the flare of light and the spam of your stats going up... but I guess thats just me.

Schwing is good...I like that.

I saw a group using Shibby the other day. Was funny.
