I just want to say that Greg of Gamespot is a fair reviewer, even if he gave my precious Doom 3 a 8.5 (*******...)

I also want to state that WoW have recieved the biggest score Gamespot has ever given to a MMO....EVA! Good job, Bliz. Game of the year, prehaps?

This game could quite possibly receive "Game of the Year" status... Although it would have to beat out some other quality games, I think it's feasible.

Wow Only has to compete with Halo 2.

Halo 2 was a huge disappointment for me. I sincerely hope another game beats it out for the title of "Game of the Year". Anyway, I strayed off topic.

WoW deserves all the praise it has received.

WoW will not have to compete with Halo 2, they are different platforms. Game of the year is platform specific.

PC game of the year will be between WoW, EQ2, Halflife 2 and Sims 2. WoW is the clear winner, but I must say, Sims 2 is pretty cool. Much better than the first, though I still got bored after a couple of hours and never felt like going back to it.

Oh, the new Rollercoaster Tycoon is pretty cool too with the [3d perspective] - should read 1st person...hehe, but again, Yawn after the first hour or two.

I'd have to say its between wow and sims2. both are great games. HL2 really didnt impress me as much as the first one. Seems like they took number 1 threw in the havok engine and then they were done.

Sorry, but when i clicked on these links, they gave WoW a 9.5 and EQ2 a 7.8...

...Or were you being sarcastic? (its kinda hard to tell)

Anyways, i never base my game buying opinions on gamespot reviews unless they actualy score close to what the community review score is.
Even at that, they've trashed games that i thought were pretty good, and praised other games that were total crap!

I haven't got the chance to play Half life 2 but I heard its godly.

Gamespot Score: 9.5
Community Score: 9.1

I'd say thats pretty close :D

By the way, the "snicker" part wasn't a dead give away that he was sarcastic?

Sarcasm? We had that around here at one time, but I quite because I was the only one who practiced it.

Final Fantasy XI Players seem to like to lash out on the fact that World of Warcraft is doing good.

At least they are in a good mood today, Squeenix announced the new updates, which many feel that will stop the gil seller problems.

EDIT: Anyone heard of any of these problems?

Actually at this point in time Blizzard is performing daily server maintenance during my peak gaming hours. The first few days have been really bumpy in regards to server stability... But it's expected at the beginning of all MMOGs.

Let's see... week 1 and they've already:
-disabled fishing in some areas due to botting
-4 of their most popular servers went down for about 3 days due to unexpected server load
-Yes, there are still whiny 13 yr olds who are somehow able to pay

I havent heard any news on botting and hacking yet.

Yes, its very close indeed... therefore not likely to be a BS review. :p

And yea... I'm still nursing my FFXI and WoW addiction, so i havent been getting enough sleep lately to pick up on sublteties like that. O.o

Let the FFXI people say what they will... It can't be helped that WoW is a better game than FFXI.
#20 Nov 30 2004 at 4:05 PM Rating: Default
'Course it could be helped, if Square-Enix actually cared about FFXI any more. I think that "expansion pack" was proof enough that they don't. ("Hmm, I want more money. Ideas?" "I know, let's release an expansion pack, and lock half the content in 'later patches' and most of the rest in insanely impossible missions!" "Sounds great! We'll charge $30 for the privilege too! They're already paying us $13/month for the experience, after all!")

And for comparison, FFXI got an 8.0 and the expansion crap got a 6.8. It seems their scores are highly inflated, I'd give FFXI a 7.0 and the expansion a 2.0. (Yes, it did indeed add more content... We think. You get 1 point for the cutscene with Bahamut.)

Edit: insanely impossible, not possible, meant to hit "Preview"...

Rock on WoW :P.

I like how WoW hits retail, immediately begins addressing possible botting issues, and suddenly SE goes "Oh crap! Blizzard is enforcing is EULA, we better get in gear and start doing that too!". Good job SE, it only took ya 2 years to figure THAT one out.

Roflmao, and to think I actually thought about playing FFIX or EQ2. Thank god I had enough sense to wait and look at WoW first. Say no to crack buy Wow today!!

Just curious, but your peak playing time is 4:00-5:00AM in the morning? I think you are in the minority there or live outside of the US.
