Well, I can see when it comes to copper... on Alleria the prices are plummeting so you might as well buy the stuff if you've got the money. Of course, I enjoy mining, copper's not a rush anymore...but oh boy, those silver veins! My dwarf's stumpy legs can't get there fast enough! =)
The thing that's pissing me off right now though is that the skinners, even though they're plentiful, are getting WAY much more in return for their leather than miners are getting for their ores. Honestly, people are paying 50sp/10 medium leather. Meanwhile, you can't sell copper for more than ~30cp a bar. I mean, it's so much more difficult to chase down veins and hope you get there first than to simply follow a group of warriors and skin all their kills.
What it really comes down to is: I, as an engineer, really get the shaft. If I consider my ore as zero cost (which no one should ever think, mine your own damn ore and smelt it) and add the rest of the components for say, a Deadly Blunderbuss with a crude scope--cause you have to add 'em to sell em:
2 Copper tube = 0
4 handfulls of copper bolts = 0
2 medium leather = (bought 10 for 30, CHEAP) 6sp
1 wooden stock = 2sp
1 malachite = 3sp (if you don't get one mining)
= 11sp and they just wont sell on the AH. I was in a good mood after a PHENOMINAL mining run (15 silver, 55 tin, 52 copper, 3 malachite, 3 shadowgem, 2 moss agate (lost 1 during a server reset) so I sold 3 Deadlies for 10-12/each depending if there was a scope or not. I could have probably sold them for more, but they don't move on the AH and people are really ****** about prices. Hell, I tried to sell 45 copper bars for 33s (he talked me down from 40--less than AH prices even!) and he walked; wouldn't pay more than 30.
Start appreciating people's time damnit! (Boy did it take me a long time to get to that moral--time for bed!)
