I was just wondering if there are any venders in the game who sell copper or iron ore. Because its pointless to mine now because it give me no xp and i would rather just pay for it. Also the server im on has a low population so the auction house's suck. Please help me take away the pointlessness!!!

I'd suggest asking around in your area's Trade channel if any miners are interested in selling ore, and hang around your local forge. Asking here is unlikely to help since there are so many servers, and each server has 2 factions.

I have no beef with someone not interested in pursuing a gathering skill, as long as you don't seek external means to acquire your resources. Economies are based on supply and demand, though, so if there aren't many miners on your server you'll simply have to mine it yourself, or create another char to mine it for you. Either way, don't expect to save very much time no matter how you do it. If you don't want a timesink, play an offline game. MMOs are timesinks, whether you like it or not.

Ketsugi is right. By my reasoning, I would suggest making another character for mining, specially in Ironforge, it has plenty of veins. But this is no long term solution unless you plan to make this character grow. When you start needing Mythril or other high stuff things, you won't get it near Goldshire, that's for sure.

I would suggest you go to mine higher level veins... since i am doubting that youve already maxed mining...Sorry if it sounds a bit sarcarstic but wouldnt improving yourself be the next logical step.

Well, I can see when it comes to copper... on Alleria the prices are plummeting so you might as well buy the stuff if you've got the money. Of course, I enjoy mining, copper's not a rush anymore...but oh boy, those silver veins! My dwarf's stumpy legs can't get there fast enough! =)

The thing that's pissing me off right now though is that the skinners, even though they're plentiful, are getting WAY much more in return for their leather than miners are getting for their ores. Honestly, people are paying 50sp/10 medium leather. Meanwhile, you can't sell copper for more than ~30cp a bar. I mean, it's so much more difficult to chase down veins and hope you get there first than to simply follow a group of warriors and skin all their kills.

What it really comes down to is: I, as an engineer, really get the shaft. If I consider my ore as zero cost (which no one should ever think, mine your own damn ore and smelt it) and add the rest of the components for say, a Deadly Blunderbuss with a crude scope--cause you have to add 'em to sell em:

2 Copper tube = 0
4 handfulls of copper bolts = 0
2 medium leather = (bought 10 for 30, CHEAP) 6sp
1 wooden stock = 2sp
1 malachite = 3sp (if you don't get one mining)

= 11sp and they just wont sell on the AH. I was in a good mood after a PHENOMINAL mining run (15 silver, 55 tin, 52 copper, 3 malachite, 3 shadowgem, 2 moss agate (lost 1 during a server reset) so I sold 3 Deadlies for 10-12/each depending if there was a scope or not. I could have probably sold them for more, but they don't move on the AH and people are really ****** about prices. Hell, I tried to sell 45 copper bars for 33s (he talked me down from 40--less than AH prices even!) and he walked; wouldn't pay more than 30.

Start appreciating people's time damnit! (Boy did it take me a long time to get to that moral--time for bed!)
