Ok, I asked this question in the EQ2 forums and got ignored. So does anyone know how many copies EQ2 has sold or how many accounts have been created? This is just for curiosity sake. SE and Blizzard have been very up front about their sales and accounts numbers so I wondered why I hadn't seen anything from SOE.

To be honest, there hasn't been much of a buzz around EQ2 at all. Just an observation.

Just out of curiousity, why do you think people that play WoW would know what numbers EQ2 sold?

Only reason I know what WoW did was because they bragged about it on their site.

Personally, I don't think it's the sales of the first release that decides how popular a game is. It's the first expansion that decides that.

There are alot of people that wait a month after release to buy the game. There are people that will wait until Xmas to get it.

Those things ***** up sales numbers.

There are also those that won't get the game for 6 months because they'll hear about it from friends and want to try it out.

So first release numbers are kind of pointless. They're really meaningless. So WoW sold 500,000+ copies. Does that mean there will be 500,000+ a year from now?

Or will there be 300,000- or 700,000+?

Only time will tell which is the more popular MMORPG, WoW or EQ2, the first release numbers don't show which is which.

Well, Amazon's sales rank has WoW at 7 and EQ2 at 462. We're doing equal page views on both sites.

I said it was just for curiosity. And I know that some people on the WoW board play other games. It's like you said, Blizzard bragged about their sales numbers on their website as did SE. I was just wondering if maybe SOE didn't have much to brag about? I've never played EQ2 or EQ for that matter but you would think that the sequal to such a ground breaking game would make more of a splash than EQ2 has.
