compared to the FFXI-forum.

I've also realized that my irritation on forum posts hae decreased drastically, that's because I rarely if ever check the FFXI forums anymore.

Sure there is whining here, but there are also alot of helpfull posts where peoplegive their input on what they feel WoW s to them.
It isn't the constant posting, as in the RDM FFXI section, where people say how their way is the best or that RDM/WAR PWNS OMFGBBG and so forth.
And in the main section there is the ever so popular threads about eitehr 1. gilsellers or 2. racist NA/JP players.

And as you read this and listen to these, OFTEN stupid and moronic, complaints each and every day you get annoyed. And this doesn't stop in the forums it continues to be debated in the game!

So I want to thatnk you all for having saved me from going completely insane with all the constant bickering about the same things from FFXI.
Sure there is whining and the occasional 1337 PWNAGE poster finds his way here to tell how he Boxxxorzzz!!!111 in PVP with his leet dmg. but more often tehre are positive posts where ppl debate, not flame, about which way down the talent tree is the best way to go.
Of course that's this forum, I'm not counting the WoW official forum.
Just wanted to let you know that you've all, those who post nicely (not necessarily aggreeing with me), have saved my brain from decomposure untill I can play WoW when it releases in EU.
Keep up the high quality of posts or I'll whine ;)

Whew I was about to say. You Also prob have not noticed that there are guilds for allakazam posters and we here are trying to keep a community in wow /join allakazam.

To bad the community on allakazam is nonexsistant on the wow website (im not posting there i swear. did it once in open beta just giving a thank you to blizzard and i was ripped apart limb by limb then skin alived and wqatch how the trolls seasoned me with salt and then cooked me to death slowly .)

But you realise that this forum, and the game itself, is relatively new and the "right way" of playing your class hasnt been figured out yet.
I dare say that in 6months time people will be asking things like "How do I play a Paladin" and being met with a cookie cutter response. (See RDM forums in FFXI)
I dont think that it should be this way, but I feel that it will end up like that. Im just glad that this was a global release and noone got favoured. At least we get spared the age old "JP rule the markets" and "JP get free money sent to them weekly by square!?!? OMFG" For this reason I left FFXI to play WoW, Just so that I can start on a level playing field.

I agree it's so nice. Browsing the forums is actually stress free for once. lol

I played FFXI since Dec, only a couple mths after NA release and it was full of whiners fromt the very beginning from what I recall.

You have to realize FFXI has been out for over a year now in North America. WoW has been out a week. Generally the same problems found on any boards in general, will seep onto these as well.

Enjoy it while it lasts, I know I am.

The thing about WoW that will limit the cookie cuttering is the talent system.

There are just so many different "builds" of classes that you can do, there won't be a favorite that comes up.

Sure all the Paladins will have the same abilities at the end, but it's how the talent points are divided up that will create individuality and prevent cookie cuttering.

Actually forums, if regulated to stop whining and complaining, will ussually mature. Sure there will sometimes be a newb or a asshat around, but they ussually dont last long. I took great pleasure in the EQ boards, simply because the community knew each other for the most part and when a discussion popped up, it was ussually pretty intelligent.

I know this has been brought up but I believe that server forums would be a great addition.

It's true that FFXI now has been out in NA for roughly a year, which is when I started, but the forums for FFXI have always tended to be more of a whining kind of posts and lots of STFU n00b even from the start.
Whereas the forum here gives a different atmosphere, a kinder one if you will or maybe even smarter.
And there's also the fact that this game (WoW) isn't built up like FFXI and the discussions will therefore tend to differ from the FFXI ones.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see how long this'll last and if I will be proven mistaken in that the Allah WoW-forum will continue to be a place where you can come and discuss something without haveing to bang your head into the wall every 2min.

Sooner or later many of those people may begin to play WoW, when they see just how much more enjoyable the game is, and then they will come over to this forum and post in the same way, which you consider whining.

You're not ever going to have a perfect forum experince over time, most slowly degrade, as more people join.

I hope this one continues to be mature and helpful for a while, but I don't expect it to stay that way forever.

Well, they come over to this forum with that attitude, and if they retain it long enough, no one will be able to see there posts when they post. If the main populace of the forums dislike whiners, those whiners will either change, or leave. The problem of FFXI forums is that the main populace is composed of whiners, so even if there are those with a sound mind there, they get shunned.

WTF? Sorry, I'm really over this now, and I'm getting my copy on Wednesday, and I'm not complaining about the release itself anymore, but I can't believe this attitude. FFXI gets released in Japan first, and you find that worth complaining about, that's fine by me. WoW gets released in USA, Korea, Australia and New Zealand first (hardly a "global" release) and you say "no one got favoured". I find that very odd thinking. Obviously, USA, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand got "favoured". Europe is left to find alternative means of acquiring and paying for WoW, or to wait for their regional release. Asia (barring Korea) has to find alternative means, and has no assurance whatsoever of a local release.

This would be worse if you're American, because it would strengthen my impression of Americans as being largely insular and not caring about the rest of the world... but your use of the British "favoured" spelling throws me off.

If the whiners and asshats get out of hand, the Karma Trolls will have to step in and deal with it.

I think he was stating the fact that the economies would be fresh for all the releases, and not pre-defined as was the case with NA /EU players introduced into an already Dominated economy, as was the case with FF. Diffrent economies for diffrent regions. Fresh starts for all players. Thats what he was saying i believe, just not worded correctly.

Well I am sure that will change with time as stated, but here's to another FFXI hardcore up and leaving for WoW after playing it for 10 minutes :D and lets hope these forums stay nice like they are now.
