I'm having fun in WoW and I just realized how much its changed, I remember back in the old days... I still have my Warcraft 1 retail CD (though Its been quite a while since I played it.) I remember you could only select up to 4 units at a time, and if you could ever summon a demon or water elemental, you won. right there. those things were balance killers. You even got to play with the Medivh storyline.

Warcraft II "your sound card works perfectly" This game had so much personality for an RTS It was insane, this is the one that hit everyone like a train, they didnt simply rely on a rehash "more of the same" they took out the demons and water elementals and did a great deal of play balancing, This was a favorite at my local LAN center for a long time, I wiped people in tournements for a long time, some other kid with the same name as me came and knocked me down a peg and I pretty much realized that I lost my edge long ago... I was aging, and it showed.

WC3, again, not "More of the same" a completly new hero based system, a new lan favorite with EXCELLENT mods such as DOTA Allstars... Excellent single player campain in RoC and TFT

WoW, if anyone says "More of the same" ill smack you.

I'm having fun, I cant really comment more on it than that, so..

I'm almost 26 years old now and I grew up with this series. I'm proud to be a blizzard fan (not fanboy) and own the entire Warcraft line, and the entire diablo line. So I just wanted to see if anyone else had some oldschool heritage here. :)

Share you stories.

Ahh the good ol' days.... kinda.

I remember playing Warcraft 1.
Just a little history. At that time when Warcraft 1 came out I was the best at all games in my group of friends. No contest I would play games with my friends that they have played for weeks and I have never played, and I would beat them.

Then I played Warcraft 1, lost, lost, lost, lost again, used codes still lost.

I was amazed that for some reason I could not comprehend this game, I got upset and quit.

But now I play Warcraft three and WoW. And I am ok. But it still gets me, the first time I played a game that I sucked like a hoover at turns out to become my favorite game of all time

I started from WC1 as well... wow, that was a good game! Too many companies spend more time on graphics, less time on game play, not Blizzard.

Never played any Blizzard games before WoW.

I never played a Blizz game till WoW. In fact I never even heard of WoW until people in the SWG forums talking about the game and how it was SWGs deathbed.

I have been playing EQ off and on for the last 3.5 years.. I was intent on EQ 2 being the game of choice but I then recieved both BETAS -- low and behold I did not like what they did with EQ 2..

Hence::::

WOW has stolen me I highly doubt I will ever play EQ again. :)

Happy Hunting
I am sure any horde will die by my hand at least 1nce.

I have all the Blizz games for the PC from Warcraft I on...

They are probably the best software game maker in terms of gameplay and nuking all the bugs.

Heck, I still play WC1

Old-schooler here, present and accounted for.

Here's the real question: Did you manage to beat Human Level 7 pre-patch?

Took forever, but I did finally do it back in the day, when I assumed it was supposed to be that hard. Then Blizzard released the patch and I was able to feel all smug and superior :).

ObHistoryLesson: There was a bug in this mission that unleashed a horde (heh) of orcs when the human player tried to save the human peons who were penned up in the middle of the map. It was just barely possible to win it, but it was pretty horrifying.

Incidentally I laugh about this very subject whenever someone goes on about how Blizzard never releases a game until it's perfect. Now don't get me wrong, I've got a lot of respect for Blizzard, and I think they're pretty much unmatched when it comes to "fun factor" and commitment to their (non-subscription based) games post release, but in my experience they've all been released with some pretty major balance issues, if not outright bugs. Diablo II is the perfect example of all of this: at release it had a number of pretty awful bugs and it was terribly balanced, but Blizzard kept people working on it for years (literally), culminating in the 1.10 patch which improved the game so much it was essentially a free expansion pack. Of course, it didn't hurt that the game continued to sell incredibly well during those years (at no less than $30 for that matter), but still, they deserve a lot of credit.
