A few Questions....Follow

These may be some dumb questions but bear with me ;p.

1. For some reason I am having the hardest time finding out how to get to the general chat or trade chat that people keep talking on.

2. Which is better, buying from the AH or NPCs? I haven't been to the AH yet but the prices are very very high at the NPCs.

3. What is the best way to get your resources for leathermaking.

EDIT: 4. ;P...is the dagger the best item to use for a Hunter?
