Does anyone know of a place to go practice this skill? Also it looks as though we require thieves tools where can these be purchased? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I haven't seen any locks in the first 15-16 levels, though I don't play a rogue. If you do encounter locks, they'll probably be part of rogue-specific quests.

Have not played a rogue, but engineers can make practice locks around skill 100.

Also I have fished up a locked chest.

Actually, in the deadmines you can pick the large doors instead of blowing it down. But yeah thats the only place I've seen so far needing to pick locks.

I'm an Engineer and Rogue and yup... they can create Practice Locks and that's all they are really good for, picking and then selling off to a vendor.

Got my lockpicking skill up quite a ways today using that method.

I love how Practice Locks are in the Engineering category of 'Junk' :-)
