Any suggestions on pets?
Aggressive...is awful. Unless you're planning on sitting still and having the same monsters spawn around you so that your pet can attack them, it's generally a bad idea. There are lots of monsters in any given area, and it really sucks to have your Voidwalker try to kill everything in an entire region, thus killing you.
I personally use Defensive, but it's important to know how the setting works. The pet will attack anything that attacks you, not anything you attack yourself. So once you get hit, your pet will join in, without fail. However, if your pet is fighting something else, either because you told it to, or because that thing hit you first, it won't attack the new monster.
When I fight solo, I cast a debuff or two from maximum range, in an area where (hopefully) nothing else will attack me, and then once it hits me, my pet immediately joins in.
As far as claiming monsters goes, to keep this in-topic, a pet cannot claim a monster for you. The first PC to hit a monster claims it, and so you'll want to fire off a curse or something to ensure the monster is yours, instead of sending a pet in.
Edit: Wow, this was my 300th post. I hope it was helpful. ; ; Edited, Sat Nov 27 01:28:07 2004 by Tsukinomahou
