Advice for first time online RPGersFollow

OK i know this game is going to bring out many 1000s of people that are new to online games simply due to the crazed popularity of warcraft. I have a few peices of advice that should help you get your legs under you in your first few days of play:

1. First thing you do, type in /leave 1. If you want to avoid many ******** that will proably tease you and make your first few hours a pain, i advise turning off general chat. Your going to have the impulse to blurt out 100s of questions you could otherwise find out.

2. READ THE ! pop ups. Your going to have lots of questions about basic interface stuff, but anytime you attempt to do an action, or need to do something such as go and talk to X npc, there will be a message showing up to tell you exactly how to do it. No reason to mass msg for simple things like how to attack when the first time you target a monester it will give you a long description of how and what to do.

3. TALK TO THE NPCS FIRST!!! IN this game there is no greater headache then when you lvl up from lvl 1-5 for the first time on wolves, only to find out that you had a quest to kill 20 of them. If your not sure what is kill-able or what you should go and do, just talk to the guys with the giant gold ! over thier head and by following thier quests you will naturally explore the area and naturally lvl up on the things that are best for your lvl. Believe me, you will want to do all the lvl 1 quests, then go back and do everyones second one, then third, ect. If you do not, the quests will be taking you four times as long to complete as they would if you knocked out 2-3 at a time.

4. Your gear: One of the first things that will be new to you, especially if you havent played another online rpg or diablo, is that you have to equip your character. Do not use your gold on buying items for your character, atleast not till around lvl 8-10, since till then, your starting gear will naturally be upgraded by dropped items. (You will always get good drops anyway, all the way to lvl 60, but for the first few lvls espcially, everything you find you will proably be able to use). The reason i say to save your money is that when you skill-up, you will want to have your money available to buy the new skills. There is no real difference between lvl 5 and lvl 6, stat wise. But there is a massive difference in many of the new skills you can use, such as new more powerfull spells or wepon skills. By having the money from quests and selling that gear that you do not use, you should have plenty to lvl up all your new skills each lvl.

5. Once you have gotten over the massiveness of the areas your in, go ahead and turn back on your chat and start talking away and meeting people. One of the important things to remeber, is that your stuck with these people. Its not like in other types of games that if you find someone and you rip them off, curse them out, act like an *******, there are no consequences. The people you interact with will always be there, get used to it. If you set a bad reputation, it will be very hard for you to find help when you have a tough monster to kill, or want some company on a rather trecherous journey. Keep this in mind always. It is alot like real life. If your neighbors, freinds, class mates, co-workers, watever, think that your an arrogant prick, your not going to enjoy yourself very much. In this game, if everyone has you on their ignore list, your not going to have a very fun time in the many hours (trust me, MANY hours) you will spend online in this game.

6. Do not try and go too fast. If you just lvl up quickly, skip the qeusts, and jump from higher area to higher area, your going to miss out on wat makes this game special. Wait till you have one or two quests that involve you heading to a new area before you go there, or your not goin to be able to do much. In every starting area you will eventually get a mission to take some sort of letter or message to a new city, wait till then to go.

This is just my own little guide to help out some of you who are new to online games, or new to the unique parts of this one. It is useless for those of you who did the OB but i didnt make it for you so oh well hehe. anyway, thats my two cents on gettin started in this game.
