I was walking in Goldshire when i did a /1 and asked if anyone wanted to group up, go south across the river and kill some level 19 mobs. A few POLITE people pointed out that this would be quite hard and near impossible because all of us would miss our hits and end up dead.

Then, out of no where, this guy, in all caps, start yelling across the chat channel "you stupid ******* n00b, you would get us all killed". Note that i used zeros in noob, because he thought he was awesome he used them, despite hes one of two thousand level 8s on the server and he knew all.

He continued to go on and on with the same rant using different, and continually harsher words until i simply asked "Gyrek, are you from EQ?" To which he proudly stated "Yes, i am".

'Nuff said.

Anyone else come across people like this yet?

Yep.

It's the #1 reason I no longer join the /1 general channel ...

So far i've only come across pretty nice people, who haven't been ******** on the general chat about little things, or the same thing being asked over and over.

So many people so little respect...

You come to a camp, and see 5 people killing the mobs....

Do you?

A. Leave them alone to finish the camp and ask them to tell you when they are done?

B. Start trying to first hit every mob that spawns.

I hate jerks...

I choose...

C. Ask if you can join them (assuming they are grouped)

I've not encountered any real jerks (yet), but the first thing I did was /leave 1.

C. Join in on the rotation taking the ocasional mob which you need for your quest as well as the five others.

Why do the 5 people own this camp which may be part of a quest? Becaues there are 5 of them? Because they got there first? Becaues you say so?

Most heavily camped situations I've encountered have revolved themsevles into a natural rotations. Most people let the first person there take the named mob, then wait in the unoffical cue for their turn. The idea that 5 people own the camp is just as bad as a 6 person coming in and trying to tag everything as theirs.

Oddly most people seem polite untill the second area then they start trying to "own" the camp.

funy thing happend to me too...

my and my RLF was waiting at a spwan point to kill the "cannoner whessan" and this pt comes along...

I mean when we got there there was a group waiting the 1st time so we let them kill it. and since I tought it would be a nice thing to do.

so i asked if we, since we were waiting since the last death of the mob. if we can kill it 1st...

no respond... but all the 4 ppl went to diffrent spot. Meanning they are going to tap it 1st. and it meanst war... so i taped it 1st and killed it.

and this is where it get's strange... the next mob was "connoneer smythe" and both of the group got there at the same time ish... and since i was little mad that they try to seal the mob when i asked nicely... i went up to the top of the otwer and killed the mob when they were busy with other mobs...

and here is the apprance of strange things...

on of the guys in the other group started to ramble on with few negitive words...

it's not my fult that we got it 1st! it was not like they were waiting to kill it. (waiting at the spawn)

ah I hate ppl now... in ob ppl were friendy and help out more...
i give out my learther armor +8 to all the ppl I see. and now that i have +16 armor stuff i give that to ppl (mostly casters)

anyway... i hope you all wil enjoy the game and have fun...

*stands up*

I am Halloween and I am an *********

*sits down*

I think I was meant for RP server, cuz I like playing my gnome warlock as a dark miser who hates everyone and makes fun of people. It brings me joy (i know i have issues).

I'm not usually a pain on people's gameplay though, but I had a fun encounter in the gnome/dwarf starting area...inside the troll cave. The named troll that you get the quest journal from.

There were already 3 people there, partied up. I asked if I could join them to get it done all at once. One person replied and told me "[that guy] is the leader" (forgot his name). They pretty much ignored me after that.

SOOOOO...come spawn time, I whip out my dagger and poke him for the 1st hit, get my journal and off to kill Troll Novices for my warlock quest.
Boss spawn time again, I'm there and waiting...get my dagger in there just to get revenge on them not pting. So I get a dirty /tell message from one of them.

Being the ******** that I am, I decide to stick around for another 3 kills, at which point there's at least a dozen people waiting for this mob, none of which seemed to be able to take him before me (am i the only one that notices the mob's name appear before the actual mob?)
I decide that most of these people didn't wrong me, so I leave them after that.

All in all, it was a satisfying episode. And I think I'll stick to being an *********

You'll run across people like this all the time, everywhere in life. It just so happens that MMORPGS are breeding grounds for younger / naive players (that beg mommy to pay their fee each month).

This isn't an exact stereotype, but it is pretty correct to assume that these people are just unhappy with themselves to a point of forming a god-complex of themselves. Just think: little big-guy syndrome.

In real life, these people are typically pretty docile and quiet little hermit people (ya know, that friend you always had that never left the house, didn't have a job and devoted his entire days to games?). Don't let it get to you, because then you'll be a Gyrek (or whatever his name was) in training. :)

I agree, most of the people who are bungholes in the game are usually sad, pathetic people in real life. The are looking for a little revenge that they are to afraid to get in real life.

All you can do is ignore them and surround yourself with non*******'s. It might help to set an example too.
