Hi everyone,
Well I'm to the stage on leathercrafting that I need light hides pretty badly but I can't seem to get any. I looked at the crafting section here and I am killing the right mobs but no drops not one in about 8 real time hours of killing them. Can they be bought from a vendor?

Help pls thanks.

Hey fellow leather worker,

Sign up with the trainer and you should have in your spell book the leatherworking icon and go into that~ once you learn from the trainer the basics... collect ruined pelts (forget the exact name) but it is in the recipe... 3 ruined leather pelts = 1 light leather hide and if you skinned boars/scorpids (Orc side) you can get either one of those materials.

I maxed out leatherworking on a Rogue, it wasnt very efficient :/

But, you can make great money by selling stacks of hides to the AH ;)

/sigh

People he is talking about the Light HIDE, not LEATHER. Light HIde is needed to make Cured Light Hide... Which is a key item in many very good recipies for a Hunter.

As for where, you have to SKIN it from the mob it isn't a "drop". I've found the mobs around the cross roads all can be skined for it. However note one thing, it is a RARE find. I've gotten probably 200 light leathers from the mobs, 100 or so scraps, and 5 Light Hides... I hope Meduim Hide isn't as bad if its used in the good synths.

Anything fury really, except humanoids. Light Hide and Medium hide is very easy to come across with high skinning and high level mobs. The problem with some higher level items are pearls.

As you get higher, into the high teens, you get these more often from skinning. I'm not entierly certain if it is based off critter level or your skinning skill. I had around 100 skinning when they started to turn up.

Both.

Most of the mobs you skin these off of are level 16'ish, ranging from levels 11-22.

It seems to be a random roll influenced by one's skill in skinning. When I started out doing this the 2nd or 3rd skinning produced one of these.I carried it around and finally dropped it into the bank(since I had no idea of it's use yet).Up to about skill 150 I think I got around 3 total...
Just my experience with it ,your milage may vary.

Well thats semi-good to know... I'm killing about level 12mobs for this. I guess I should go fight something more like level 15 mobs to try to raise my skinning some since i'm kinda stuck in finding mobs to raise my skill.

Edit: Forgot to ask, so this and the meduim hide can drop from most beast-type mobs in the game? Its all about skill?
