If you enter a Queue right after you log in, it is because it is sending you to the last server you played on by default. Hense forth meaning that your server is in queue status.

I was gonna play WoW just before I came to work (yes working on Thanksgiving), but Illidan was in a 200+ queue. Got to spend the time having fun anyways though.

I logged into a low pop server to play a little before I left, found out I had no sound. I remembered I had installed new sound drivers, and turned out they had defaulted by windows to mute save for 1 which was almost off already.

i thought i read somewhere that the reason the queue exists is to prevent 300 people doing the same quests at the beginning of the game that like require you to kill certain mobs where there is only a few of and you wont have 30 people trying to get the same one. sorry if im mistaken, just thought i read that explanation somewhere.

The reason for the Queue is because a server can only handle so many people before it begins to get over worked. When it passes the limit (or in some cases gets close) the server begins to lag. Feasibly the highest amount of players any MMO has ever been able to handle is roughly 5k. Most servers begin to have problems if they remain at cap for too long.

What most of the people on the offical forums can't understand is that there is no amount of preperation any company can take to ready servers for those kind of loads. Every MMO has server problems when it starts, there is no exception that I have ever heard of.

Over the next couple of days they will be able to optimize their servers and the queue should (but you never know) go away. The best advice I can give you is that if you are not picky about server then choose a Pacific or Mountain time zone as they have almost no queue last I checked.

The reason Central and East are so full is because ALL of the major (i.e. Large) Guilds of WoW jumped on those two time zones. Supposedly ALOT of the major guilds are on Illidan as they figured Archimode would be too well known and hense forth attract alot of attention. In the end who knows, i'll just be laughing when they have all the servers running without problems.

You got the basic premise, except that the main problem was that there were 5thousand+ in one area, not spread across the world.

Ya I remember first getting on as my Orc and seeing what must have been 40 people easy killing boars, 30 more in the cave, and at least 8 people camping that NM Scorpion.

It was nice to see things fan out kinda fast. Hope I can get on more soon to get my character up to 10 so I can start Talents.

the 300 + queue i've seen doesn't bother me alot, i can understand the reasoning of it.

get slightly annoyed when i get disconnected through no fault of my own while leveling and have to wait 25 minutes to get back in though :(
