tips on launching a MASSIVE multilayer game:

1. Count on MASSIVE usage at the beginning!

2. Buy/Rent/Steal Every computer in the country you can that is capable of running your game for the first 2 weeks.

2.5 Specialize! those servers to ONLY serve registration, login, newb zone and starting cities

3. Buy/Rent/Steal All the bandwidth in the country you can to support the servers you bought/rented/stole for the first 2 weeks.

3.5 Diversify! get that bandwidth from anybody and everybody, and WARN them of impending disaster

4. Give players an insensitive to bind and shop in towns other than 1 zone away from the newb areas.

5. DON'T do it on a HOLIDAY!

you miss the most important of all.

warn your costumers not to log in all at the same time, this will cause a massive amount of atoms to split and it will be the end of humanity.

1. They did count on MASSIVE usage, that's why the queues were put in place.

4. insensitive? do you mean incentive?

Hold on a second there. Are you saying that playing MMORPGs doesn't automatically qualify you as a system architect who can design them?

Man, that just killed my career intentions.
