the chat filters in WoW aren't very in depth... the "general" chat that is basicallly everyone on the server really gets annoying. I don't care to see what people nowhere near me are talking about.. i just want to see the chat from my immediate area.... is there any way to get rid of JUST the "general" chat?
If the General chat is channel 1 ... (you would know by the sentence beginning like "/1 General:<whinner name> Hey this lag suxxor", then you can filter that channel out with the command:
Go to interface options and check the option for simple chat. That will seperate the chat logs from the combat logs and it looks a hell of a lot better.
Also, I too find General to be annoying and bogged down by tons of idiots just asking me to Ignore them.
/quit General or /leave General will do the trick.
You can create any channel you wish and invite anyone you know to use the channel too.
/join "name of your choosing" /cinvite "channel name" "player name"
I just laugh to myself at most of the morons in general chat. I keep it open to occasionally help people who ask questions, but just ignore it for the most part.
There have been a lot of rude people around so far. Most of general chat and even when I join a group is cursing and swearing. It doesn't bother to much, but it seems like there are a lot of immature people playing this game. So far it hasn't interfeared with my leveling or having fun though.
