I don't know if it's just my server, or just my area, but I'm DYING for my guild to get "guilded" tonight so I have someone to talk to. It took about 20 mins for me to give up and /leave 1. For those who are new, "/leave 1" is the command to leave channel 1 - General Chat, which is like local chat with people in your area.

Why?

I can't stand it! Here's what I mean:

  • People ******** about the game - "This suxx. My latency is 75. WTF? Blizzard sucks."
  • People asking stupid questions - "Where is Gorg the NPC?? I can't find it - this suxorz." (hint - READ THE DAMN QUEST DESCRIPTION!)
  • People boasting about how much better they are because they played open/closed beta - "I miss my L56 Paladin" or "Wow this feelz so Noob - I miss my ______"
  • People being as$hats talking 1337 Sp3k3 - "u da Noobzors stfu luzer"

  • It was just an orgy of whining, ********* and so many stupid questions that people had trouble getting answers to valid questions - I.e. "Anyone wanna group up for quest x?"

Tonight when I get home from work, hopefully my guild will be up and running - I'm getting out of that stupid channel and never going back ... well ... maybe not *never*

What guild are you in, and what server are you guys on?

My clan is Clan-Contamination, on Central Server Mal'ganis, my leader is currently level 16 and one of the highest in the server. :X Waiting on 300 people.. :-\ damn queue.

    I agree with you, however...

    /LEAVE 1

    Fo' sho'. :)

Ya sadly I have already seen a discussion on FFXI INGAME. The wait list is kinda harsh on Illidan so i'm not sure when I will get in.

I think the lowest i've seen in 600 in line, and while I really wanna join the guys in Kharma Trolls this is the FIRST time I have ever been able to play the game.

I'd leave it, but any orgy is a good orgy to me.

Yet another example of your super-grammar!

That's one thing. Two words, but only one thing. I gotta get Allakhazam to ban you again.

    ...

What's wrong with these two? Everywhere I see them they're making incessant noise. Is is a race to the default filter?

You know people like you are not even worth talking to. If all you can do is correct my grammar on the boards then you need a hobby and a social life. You must still have a grudge from that post I made about Tauren mounts and you started talking about how I didn't read it well, you kept on insisting that they had plainsrunning at 40 and you just made yourself look like a complete ***.

LoL I didn't even remember that one. And by the way - Blizzard had posted that without taking down the place where they said "Taurens get Plainsrunning instead of mounts"

Anyway - it's not that I won't talk to people with bad grammar or anything - it's that I can't stand people whining and complaining in kiddy talk, then calling other people "kids" because you don't like their replies. You whine and complain and flame, and there's nothing more fun than picking apart the stupid language you use to do it.

And yes - I do have a life - but I sit at work for hours at a time getting paid a significant amount of money to do just about nothing when it's not busy ... so I get paid to sit here and post on Alla... and I just love my chats with folks like you!

What I hate in general are the people that keep trying to defend thier rights to swear like a drunken sailor in a public chat channel. Just leave it alone already and follow the rules set out for you.

Just turn off General while you're in the newbie zones and turn it back on when you move to another, higher level zone, it usually gets better after that.

But then again, you're on a server named after one of the most famous characters, you're definately going to have lots of idiots on it... That's why I didn't go for the Arthas server.

I remember the first days of OB when there was nothing but "1337" speak and "noob trashing" going on. I had General Chat disabled last night before my dwarf made it 10 feet to get his first quest ;)

Heh /1 is pretty bad. Whats worse is when some one types...
/3 "What is this chat for?" and then more people talk on it like its /1.

In my case (pre-guild charter), we dynamically create an in-game channel. Anyone can create or join one. It is as easy as:
    /join wowalla

If that channel exists, you join it...if it doesn't already exist, you just created it. Now, you simply
    /# greetings

where # is the channel bound to this new join (1-4). My friends and I have a name we use so that we can mimic guild chat until we get charter, and I envision using it in the future to allow others who are not in our guild but still game or chat with us.

Not sure this works for you, but we are using it now and enjoying. Quick customization to the UI by right-click the tab that says "Chat somethingorother" and changing the color of that channel helps visually catch the new channel chat in all the background noise of general (if you don't /leave it)

That's what we did last night.

Created a group (4 of the members were in Durotar, I was in Mulgore) to chat on.

Then when Jord came, we created a channel.

General chat is bad. It's very bad. It's a shame to, because that's where you interact with everyone else around you.

    /sigh

Hey Vamp, you better get the guild made tonight Smiley: grin

    Save us from general.

Gihja, you're backsliding, you started getting better, but you're resorting to the trollish ways again.

    EricGraham, grow up.

You can actually set up your own channel w/o a guild. My workplace has one. It helps alot. I'm with you on the General Chat. I left that channel right away, along with the Yell channel. Geez...take it to General, people! :)

Aye SeomanP ^^ I was SO glad to /leave 1 last night and channel up with you guys. Can't wait for that guild charter...

I'd much rather chat with 5 people than an orgy of early-adolescents and their sexual humor ... Ick.

I did join general chat for 2 mins to find someone to make me some bags. I guess it has its uses.
