Can't create WoW account without credit card?Follow

#1 Nov 23 2004 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
Anyone has a work around this? I got the retail box but it wont finish the account creation even if my key is valid... it wants a gamecrad or creditcard otherwise it's die, and neither EBgames or Futureshop has the gamecards until december...

It wont let you use your free month unless you provide it with extra money before playing... gg blizzard

This isn't that unusual. It will not charge you up front, only after your 1 free month is up.

This is true. You need a valid credit card to be able to use the service. There is no way around this. Even with a gamecard, the EB employee told me that you need a creditcard registered to it. (It didn't make a lot of sense...but still)

I heard that paypall will be introduced after the launch .... so i'm afraid it's either wait or get yourself a CC to start now.

Not entirely sure though,

Hope it works out for you,

Im confused as to why so many people are suprised about this. Im pretty sure every mmo that you PAY FOR requires a cc for your first month? not to charge, though. Am I missing something?

yes, it says all over that Blizzard accepts paypal directly, wich should be enough, and gamecard are prepaid cards and arent available at any store who sells the game here. And still its says you have one month free, should be accessible you just gave em 50$ ffs...

Yeah, but theyd rather be "wee, charge his cc as soon as hes done with the free month!" instead of "when will he put his cc/otherpaymentmethods on to continue :("

You're right, that doesn't make sense at all. I honestly don't think that guy knew what he was talking about. One of the main points in using a game card is if you don't have/want to use a credit card.

directly form the wow website

PayPal and Pre-Paid Game-Card Payments - Block on 11/23/04
Due to some unforeseen systems issues, PayPal is not currently able to accept World of Warcraft payments. However, they are working diligently with us to bring this online as soon as possible.
We are also experiencing a brief supply delay with the retail pre-paid game cards. The game cards will be ready to ship this coming Monday, November 29 and should begin appearing in stores where World of Warcraft is sold shortly thereafter. We apologize for any inconvenience and will provide additional information as soon as it is available

Im completely screwed since i planned from the start to use game cards.

Nowhere on the site or on the box did it say that you need a game card right away to so much as activate your account. Thats pretty crappy, especially since they ****** up the supply of the things. EB near me claims theyll have a few tommorow so all i can do is hope i can snag one. Otherwise i get to sit here for a damn week with a game that i paid $80 for and cant play.

gg blizzard.

Actually you dont need a Credit Card to play the game, because its the first month and its free they wont bill the card itself. As long as you have a vaild (possible) CC Number its ok lol, i figured this one out, wont work after free month is over cause its not really a CC but it will hold over till the GCs come out.

I'd be willing to guess that the billing system actually verifies the validity of the cc by putting a $1.00 hold (not charge) on the card.

Nope, it doesnt. My friend found a CC Number generator online and generated a random number that fit the qualifications for a Visa CC, he tried it and is now happily playing WoW lol
