PvP VS PvE, which do you pick and why?Follow

1 simple reason why i'm picking a PvP server, even though I don't think it will be that bad, and why I think you should also....

Gold Sellers

You know with a big market like online currency that Gold selling will happen. Now how strictly Blizz comes down is yet to be seen, although I have a feeling hard.

Think about it, you suspect someone of being a gold seller and it is really easy to shut them down before Blizz does anything. If they are jsut farming/exping/questing just get a bunch of friends and go around and take all their mobs. Also id you have some RL friends and/or some way to comminucate with the other faction bring some in to slaughter him.

I know I said 1, but some other things:

Ability to solve your own problems with players
The fact I like PvP and FFXI's system SUCKS!!!
Fact that I don't want to go around and always have to ask to kill someone of the oposing faction, this is a war simulation in a sense and irl if you were a soldier and found an enemy would you say "Hello, can I shot you?"

So which are going to pick and why?

Edit: After reading another post and lookign on EBAY I thougth of another reason:

Bots

I don't know what kinda bots can be made in this game, but so long as their out in the field they can be easy targets. I hated FFXI and the number of bots...

PvP

I played PvE in OB - and I was disappointed when an Orc was running around and I coulnd't attack him.

I come from FFXI - and while Ballista is fun (once you find a game at your level that's not at 6am) it really left me hungering.

Also - I want the challenge. You know - suprising the dishonourable PKs with some tricks that I keep up my sleeves...

Now to figure out those tricks ...

7.5 hours until EB opens! Bed time!

I am going PvE too many hours of deaths in the newbie zones in Lineage 2. Too many hours of sleezing through 0.4 zones and lower in Eve. Too much grief in UO. Not to mention the fun of level 40's camping the Moonglade in this game.

No I think I'll deal with watching people cut through territories that are not "Controlled" by them. I mean technically the characters in WoW are not at war with each other and it is questionable if hoard and alliance are currently fighting. There will still be raids on towns and people flagging themselves PvP on the PvE servers. No need to invite the problems I've encountered in other games here. I mean sometimes a person just wants to be able to mine a rock without getting a shive in her back.

PvE for me, thank you. As a mage that made it to Hillsbrad, I had my first encounter with getting ganked by a nasty, ill tempered rogue who must have found it absolutely hilarious to camp my corpse...several times. While I did find some backup at Tarren Mill and take my revenge, if I wanted to complete quests solo, there's not much I can do about getting ganked by unscrupulous folk that have nothing better to do than grief people.

Well up to level 10 (I think) you can't be attacked for PvP on a PvP server... As for the higher levels camping some place to demand a "Toll" I would think Blizz or the GMs would put a stop to that quickly. Also with no death penalty besides time lost really, what is there to loose? Unless someone just keeps killing you while you try to level... but then you could probably report him to a GM and they would probably do something about it.

Last I checked there are very few "Harasment rules" regarding PvP servers becaues and I know I'm quoting here "Characters have the ability to deal with their conflicts through combat and Game Masters will only involve themselves in extreme circumstances."

So I wouldn't bet on Blizzard steping in on "Griefing" on the PvP servers unless it truly got out of hand.

I read that also... However I think they would step in if the greifer kept doing it like 4+ times and they certainly SHOULD if the person is higher in level and the person being griefed has NO chance of beating him.

Honestly, I don't think that there's too much that can be done about corpse camping, nor should it be something worth notifying a GM about. We all know what happens in PVP realms. If you don't like dealing with people like that, simply join a PvE realm. But nobody is invulnerable, even with a 5 level advantage. Just give a general tell or two giving the general location of the offending griever and chances are you won't find yourself being griefed for too much longer.

No you don't lost any of your stuff if you die.

I'm going PvP mainly because raids are weirdly wrong on PvE, but also because I want to be in the Kharma Trolls! =)

That's half the reason i'm going PvP server. The other half is because Blizzard made the PvP in this make sense. I like the fact that if I see one of you alliance goodie two shoes that I make you smell the dirt.

As for Gold sellers, I feel almost bad (but not quite) for the companies that try. Blizzard will easily Perma-Ban anyone caught doing it. That and with the much higher Bind factor in this I don't see it happening.

I agree, it would be easier to stick to a different game for gold sellers. Also, can't wait until I get my copy today! Man I woke up in the middle of the night thinking YES I JUST GOT IT! and then I looked around...and then I ralized it was a dream. =(

I'm likely going to play on both kinds of servers.

Primarily PvP... I miss the tension from UO. Not the combat, mind you, just the tension! Knowing that at any given moment some nerkwad could come around a corner and start beating on you. Of course, the reverse is true... you can actually go out and hunt for people to kill!

But, I will probably have a character on a PvE server, as well. Simply for those times when I don't want to:
a) deal with other PK's/griefers,
b) deal with the polotics that naturally comes from being in guilds, having influence, etc.
c) play horde on a particular day. On PvP, you are restriced to either horde or alliance. I'm playing horde for PvP, so I would like to be able to see the alliance lands without having to constantly be running from a GY to my corpse.

I will be playing on the Tichondrious server, mostly. *Grin*

I just can't wait to be a nice little rogue stealthed in a alliance area with a whole bunch of people doing quests.

I just want to see how long I can pick them off one by one just going back to stealth mode before anyone notices me or gives me a silly hunters mark.

mind you they would be within 2 lvls of me, I don't believe in killing something that is too easy for me

PvE because I don't like WoW's PvP system and because my computer can't handle it.

PvP, because thats really what warcraft is about. I know theres a whole world, and i know theres PVP goin on on PVE servers, but its just more raw in PVP. Yeah the whole hunter/hunted thing just rocks. Im a rogue so....and oh yeah, if someone is griefing you, just send a tell to someone while your dead, have them announce it in general, and a lot of ****'s will be sure to come to your aid.

PvP- Pretty lame watching a low lv person run around you and you can not do anything about it. (He was Horde I was Alliance btw)

It's PvE for me for now...I've read too many horror stories about griefers in PvP on other games, to the point of newbies not making it past a certain level because higher-leveled players kept killing them.
I will be checking out both though, and once I get the hang of the game, I might prefer PvP...until then I'd rather learn the controls/game mechanics more safely. Feel free to call me a wuss lol.

PvE: I was in beta with L2... that's one good reason.

PvE: Because Blizzard has, thus far, refused to make a PvP RP server (I will flock to it if one appears).

PvE: Because I had some fun PvP experiences in the RP PvE server in OB and... according to the actual game lore, the Horde and Alliance aren't actually engaged in true open warfare yet.

I think I'm probably going to wind up with a character on each. Most of my friends are going PvP, so I'll want to do stuff with them, but generally I like not having to worry if someone will make killing me a hobby. It can turn from a fun game to an exercise in frustration all to quickly if you run into the wrong people.

I fail to see where you find it says they are not in open conflict.

Jaina's treaty means nothing to the alliance, in fact, the relations between thrall and jaina have only gotten worse since her fathers invasion.
