What are the TRUE System RequirementsFollow

#27 Nov 22 2004 at 11:51 PM Rating: Decent
when it comes to large scale raids (like the end of open beta) where it was like 10 or so on 100 or so. i really think 256 ram wont cut it, it didnt on my girlfriends comp so we upgraded hers today to 512. Ram and graphics card are key for large scale battles

Good point about the raids. I didn't think about that.

The game ran pretty smooth on my father's pc during beta:

AMD Athlon 900
512MB PC 133 Ram
AOpen Geforce2MX 64MB (one of the first ones out, not the lower end ones)

Graphics aren't the nicest. And it can get a lil choppy in some areas but usually fps stays stable around 26, peaked at 40 in certain areas.

But main rig that runs it really smooth is:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1Gig DDR400
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB.

Even with Max vid settings, max rez and everything turned on in the drivers, the game doesn't even hiccup.

Ps. Yes I'm an AMD/ATI guy!

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2Gig DDR400
ATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MB.

with these specs during a 100 player raid

it still would get laggy a bit.

When I installed the beta, I got a message warning me that my processor speed was too low (I'm on a p3 with 450 mhz)

I scoff at their alarmist warnings! I ran the beta just fine. My gfx card is contemporaneous with the processor, but I have just shy of a gig RAM. I've had worse problems in Diablo II than I did playing WoW.

I've heard you shouldn't even bother running EQ2, if you don't have at least 1gig ram...
#33 Nov 23 2004 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
2.6ghz p4
1024mb ram
nvidia 6800 OC

run at the highest settings and i still get 50-55fps.

so since this seems to be a "How good will my PC run this"..

AMD Athlon 64 3000+
2GHZ

512MB Ram (Think its PC3200 or something, would have to find the box again lol) going to 1gig once I save up some money.
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro with 128MB Ram and Omega drivers.

You should really go DNA drivers. They work way better. If you wanna bench and see use AquaMark3 and run a test with Omega then DNA. You can get them all by google.com

Hmmm, interesting, i'll have to try that probably... Speaking of benchs, why doesn't WoW have one... Probably the OB but for those who were wondering here and didn't get in on the OB (like me) woulda been nice. Oh well only a few more hours then we all can see for oursleves.

Before I got my new CPU my highest score was 31k With DNA I got it to 35k with my new CPU I got it to 39k. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Well i've never used the bench program, and i'm on my laptop atm, so I don't know if thats bad or good... Unless it was VERY quick in scoring things (IE going up in 100s at a time instead of 1s) I would say that isn't too bad >.>
#40 Nov 23 2004 at 3:05 AM Rating: Default
well OC'ing my processor got my CPU score up by 1k. I dunno the exact increments but it was good.

LOL

I'm going to OC my CPU soon... Reason i'm holding off is this system is BRAND NEW, built just for games like WoW (which was a driving force behind it) and FFXI. So, atm, the thermal compound I used is still breaking in so my fan wont help as much... and I want that fan pulling full duty before I OC.
#42 Nov 23 2004 at 3:10 AM Rating: Default
You shoulda got Arctic Silver 5 for thermal compound. I got a great HSF for my CPU. For a Prescott it OC"s good.

I did get that >.>

Read it takes like 500 hours to reach maxium conductivity...

Edit: My HSF is a thermal take, going up to like 5500RPM with speed controller.

Well my PC is always on and I dunno if I got 500 hours in yet. I doubt it since I had it for like half a week before I started beta.
And if you wanna see my comp specs they are in my sig.

heh, I still think i'll wait a week or two... mainly to see how well WoW runs w/o OC'ing since FFXI runs perfectly at max settings...
#47 Nov 23 2004 at 3:20 AM Rating: Default
My FFXI ran at like 20FPS during all the crowded areas. No lower if I remember correctly. I kinda needa new GFX card. Not badly but if I get some new money I might get a 9800PRO or somethin.

9800Pro is probably the best video card you can get for under 300 imo... I was pretty tempted when shopping for a video card to get a X800 (forget if it was Pro or XT or something... probably XT) 256MB (think DDR2 memory also) for 400... THATS the best card out there atm I think.
#49 Nov 23 2004 at 3:31 AM Rating: Default
Well it was either a X800PRO or XT. The best is either a X800PE or a 6800Ultra extreme. I just looked around and I can get a 9800PRO for 175.

Yea, I paid 250 for my 9800PRO, but I coulda gotten it cheaper online even with s&h. I just wanted it now... that and it was a gift so why shouldn't I get it quicker and more expensive if I'm not paying for it >.>

Ok actually I did tell the person who was paying for it I could get it online for cheaper and they said they didn't want to put their info on the net...
#51 Nov 23 2004 at 3:37 AM Rating: Default
Lol Info on the net. Does the person know about Encrypted data bases? That is like impossible to get through. Not even the company that your entering it to can check it.
