OK so I am in a pickle that's for sure.

I wasn't planning on getting WoW until after the end of the end of the semester (working full time and going to school==little time for gaming), but I looked at my schedule today and would you look at that, tomorrow is the only day I work until Saturday!

My computer needs to be reformatted and I have to install Windows XP, so that's $150 right there. $450 for rent (yay for tiny apartments), $300 for my car; that's $900 right there. Paycheck is usually only around $800 after taxes sooo...

It's money I'm going to spend either way, be it now or when the semester ends, and I have plenty of time to play and get my fix before buckling down for finals...what do you all think? Buy it now and get it out of the way? I'd really hate to miss those first few days when a lot of people are brand-new and running around like chickens with no heads, not to mention being able to see a server grow from the very beginning...

I'm torn between entering into my savings and being a good girl and waiting... please help ;)

I would say go for it, but be prepared for withdrawal when the week is over because it will hit you hard and fast. :)

Having been in the same position before, I would suggest waiting unless you're absolutely going to be annoyed you missed the opening days. I played some EQ back when I was at Ryerson in Toronto and between the game school and work, I almost had a breakdown. I was exhausted from everything.

Keep in mind that you're also going to be shelling out $15 every month for a game you may not play that often. By January, the price of the game will drop about $10, you'll have saved another $15 from not playing for 2 months and you can get in with the after-Christmas newbs.

Plus get a friend to fix your computer. You must know some computer guy who can help you out and save $150.

Don't worry I'll have a friend do it, you misunderstand, it's $100 for XP and $50 for WoW ;)

Hmm...two radically different opinions...I really just want to see the opening days and put it away until school is done...but I don't know >.<

Absolutely. Being a female means automatic free tech support from the geeks. Take advantage of it :) If you're feeling really generous, offer to cook dinner for him, but don't let him eat until he's done. He needs motivation to keep him focused.

EDIT: Guess I'm a bit slow :)

I doubt you'll be missing much. I was there for the opening of FFXI and it was just mass chaos for the first 48 hours.

Well that also probably had to do with the fact that we were put onto servers with all the high-level JP... ;)

There is truth to that, I had a friend used to trade meals for computer repair work... man I loved her cooking, too bad I moved... But I got to eat while I was working. And it wasnt weird or anything like that. I had a girlfriend and she had a boyfriend, we were just friends.

That's probably true. They all got annoyed with the NA people asking where they got the cool armor. Or how to craft. Walking by the auction house was murder on my processor and the speed.

Do you really want to go through that again?

i'd wait. i still have the shakes from the end of OB on the 18th. i don't get addicted to games, ever. but i am now... i really don't think you'll be missing anything if you wait a while; except a whole lot of people yelling about where the buzzboxes are in darkshore or the like. seriously, i think its gunna be such a clusterf*ck for a while that you'll get less of a sense of the server community "growing" and more of it hemmoaraeging (sp?) and mutating into this massive cancer (and i'll be all like "testuo!") and you'll certainly be less stressed out. you'll probably feel better abour yourself too.

Don't mess up your semester. Dunno bout you, but this is crunch time for me, and I'm going to seriously ***** myself over if I buy the game now. Wait until finals are over.

I would advise waiting.

Anticipation makes things so much better when you do get them.

Also, if it is as much of a possible monetary crunch to get WoW, I would suggest looking at things you NEED as opposed to things you WANT.

Wants you can do without, Needs are a different story.

Heh, I don't know about you, but the closed and open betas only made me want to play the game more! I already have my collector's edition on it's way to me, overnight shipping baby! Can't wait to have a little Diablo running behind me, toastin fools!

Keibah... Follow your heart, I bet it tells you "Come on, just get WoW, you know your gonna be bored out of your mind!"

WAIT....the game will still be new for a log time and for some time after many others will be joining.

Plus if you wait all the noob areas will be clear for just you alone to play in... =)
