I look at my list and I don't even come close to 18.

--------------------
EQ
AO
DAoC
Horizons
SWG (Beta & Retail)
CoH (Beta only)
WoW (Closed/Open Beta & Soon to be retail)
EQII (Beta only)
MxO (Beta & deleted it after three hours)
Lineage II (Beta Only, won't pay for that crap)
Neocron (Beta)

But if you were to look at the entire list of MMO's including the "technically MMO's" you come up with alot more:

-----------------------------
AO
AC
AC2
CoH
Atriarch
Darkfall
DAoC
DragonRealms
Endless Ages
EQ
EQII
Mankind
FFXI
GW
Horizons
L2
MxO
Neocron
Enropia
Shadowbane
SWG
Wish
Eve Online
UO

And you have MEO (Middle Earth Online) and DnDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online) coming in 2005 as well.

I think some people still count muds as MMOs.

Which btw I think MEO and DnDO are both going to flop horrendously. Mainly because MEO has only 4 selectable races and as we all know the spice of ANY MMO is variety and DnDO's graphics don't look much better than EQII and there aren't THAT many PnP Roleplaying fans out there that will be interested. Everyone I talked to at GenCon said they'd sooner buy it and set it on fire than actually play.

Well I'd assume this is the exact reason why the pets aren't anything super-special. They didn't want people who paid extra to have any certain advantages over people who bought the regular copy. Blizzard gets enough flak during its normal course of business that if people felt pressured into buying the CE because of some additional functionality, people would start flipping out. They'll flip out anyway because some people have a stupid panda following them around, but if that panda tore people's throats out and auto-looted for you, the battle.netters would start impaling themselves on wooden spikes outside Blizzard HQ.

Now that is fooking funny lmao.

How about I paid for the CE edition because I wanted too. Because its my money, not anyone elses. Maybe, just maybe I'm going to have fun with that pet, because its cool. Maybe I'll be driving down the road with that soundtrack in my truck, (I typically drive 4 hours a day for work). Hmmm I know that cloth map is gonna look pretty cool on my wall. Those three things alone justify it for me. There are even yet more goodies.

Nacho

You could of just said this in the first post you made. That way i could of avoided reading this whole thing.

Basicly you just want some special item that will do things for you (auto loot) or have the extra ability to bash someone over the head and do more damage than anyone else. I bet you use a lot of codes and hax to ruin the games for others you may play with also.

And 18 other MMO's huh....I would think you would of known by now then not to believe everything the strategy guide tells you.

Everything said about the pets by the first poster is not true.

1) You don't feed them. They are social pets and just follow you.

2) You don't get them at 20-30, you get them in the newbie area with a voucher that you have AT LEVEL ONE. You can use the voucher to get any of the three, panda/zergling or mini diablo.

3) you get one for every character you make with the CE account, forever.

Its weird that you talk about the money when my guess is that the difference in the CE price is less than that Trekkie top, or whatever the heck you have on in that hilarious photo, probably cost you.

People like to "waste" money on different things.

I'm glad people started catching on to that comedy morsel. I pointed that out, but it got lost in the ridiculous conflagaration. Honestly anyone that would wear that, or in the event that the picture is NOT of him, why anyone would iconify someone--who's obviously not a "star"--wearing that, is beyond me.

This discussion is all but over; buy the CE if you like the swag, or don't because you want to save $30. That's what Blizzard's plan for the CE release was anyway: Value added packaging.

the only cool one is the mini diablo anyways and even tho they look mean and angry but they just eat and eat and eat with nothing to do but follow you.

non combat pets do not eat.

why spend real money when you can spend game money to get a pet?

cant get these pets in game without a special CE code.
Quote:
If they wanted to make the 3 CE pets more appealing they could at least make them attacking pets and/or pets that are useable at level 1-5. there is no real point to the current 3.

this would be giving priority to people who pay more vs those who cant afford to. This would be making 2 classes of people in game, and isnt the way to make a succesfull mmog.

I still don't see the point of a little creature that follows you around and gives away your location to everyone in PVP but doesn't fight or even loot for you just sits there farting and looking stupid.

You can toggle your pet on and off. basically click it so it follows you, then click it again so it disapears.

All in all, you have not 1 clue what the CE is, or what even WoW is. The fact you are making up information that is so obviously wrong proves to me youre just here to troll. Please refrain from doing so in the future.

So let me get this straight... You come up here acting like some hardcore PVPer, and then say you would pay extra for some BS cheap advantage over other players? Dear lord, I didn't know they even still manufactured your obsolete model anymore...

Hopefully you'll use this name when the servers go up so I can go find you on a server and chase you down spamming "Gonna bust a Tribble in yo ***"

WoW regular edition: $50
First month of service: $15
Strategy Guide: $15
Realizing you spent the same amount as people who preordered the CE: Priceless.

I'd say it's worth the extra 30.00.

You get the OST, which I'm into, after all I love the game music, a cloth map of the world, a DVD version of the game, which if you have a DVD drive is much nicer to use, a behind-the-scenes DVD, and the guest pass is for my wife to try the game out on her computer and see if she likes it.

I personally see more to it then just the free pet, but the pet isn't meant for anything BUT looks. It's meant to make you look cooler.

I believe you all did a great job of cleaning up this thread, from that moron who started it, however, I have to throw in my 2 copper.

So, to begin with... I quote.

Quote:
and as for the 10 day trial... i have no friends i'd like to share this game with... its all mine... go away.

Now this almost seems like he wants to have sex with the damn game. I also managed to add some cute little "[ b ]" tags around the funniest thing I've ever seen a moron like him write. "I have no friends," he says.

Then, he doesn't even list what is included in the CE, and why he "hates" it so much. Personally, it seems to me he's jealous and wishes he could get it, but his mom or dad wouldn't dish out an extra 30$.

And last, if you'd like to use in-game money to purchase a pet, I hope you have fun with cockroaches that are the size of the nail on my little pinky-finger.

In conclusion; we bought it because we thought having a little extra of the best game currently, (and most likely a damn long time for me) would be awesome.

Um...just wondering wtf the gift box in this CE image is.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/insider/021/collectorsedition.html

Is that the inventory icon for the pets, or is it a mysterious 4th pet?

lol... I didn't even notice the Star Trek outfit... good catch.

And the whole point of the pets was something special, available only to CE buyers, that WOULDN'T give them an unfair advantage in the game. It would just be retarded if that wasn't the case; a kind of "You can afford more stuff, you get special benefits that will make the game easier for you than the poor fools who can't afford or don't want to buy the CE."

A rate down for you, sir.

That gift box is an item all your characters begin with, in which you hand into an npc in the noob village.
