Well, never played FFXI myself, but I do know that WoW blows the doors off almost every other MMOG I have ever played. I am SO happy that there was a mix up and my buddy got sent two Closed Beta accounts and he gave me one.

Yeah, I have already bought enough beer and barbeque to cover that bit of kindness. :-)

Welcome! I too played ffxi. Actualy quit for 8 monthis or so. Tried to wait out WoW. Went back to ffxi for about a month and finaly open beta for WoW was out. Never touched ffxi since.

And with any luck my g/f will be coming over from ffxi too.

i played ff11 from april to the end of august. on seraph server i was a 61 drg/war. (my war was 35, thf 14, whm 15 pld 22 etc etc.) I left ff11 cause of the gil reasons and the fact taht if i wanted to play at a certain time i couldnt get a party not because i was a drg cause about 60 or above parties are slim to none, and also the fact no one really helped me too. Granted i was rank 7 and had all my Af but helmat but that was after weeks of spaming jueno looking for help. I didnt want high elvel help i just wanted help.

My biggest probel with ffx1 was the useless of classes and how people treated them DRG was not the only ones treated like crap. This wouldnt be so bad if there was a option to solo of some kind for semi decent exp.

after ff1 i went to city of heros and got bored after 1 month and waited for WOW OB to come out. Now i am in love.

You have to read the manual they gave u with the game... it explains to you step by step on how to cancel an account... if u do decide to go back and play, u do not need to buy a whole new game. You have 3 months before your account is totally wiped if u decide on going back...

Once you cancel the content IDs, they aren't charging you for anything. You don't have to cancel your entire account...after 3 months of inactivity, they auto-wipe your character anyway. I've quit FFXI a few times before due to time constraints (I was in college at the time).

Phew, then there would be no point in unsubscribing then..

Just remember to cancel *all* of your Content IDs, and you should get an in-game e-mail confirming the cancellation of each. Just to be sure, keep an eye out on your credit card bills.

I am crossing over from FFXI as well. I hated having to wait for a party to hunt with, only to finally get into one and have the white mage leave 5 minutes after after I joined. The LS I was in has some great people in it that I will miss, but there is no way we can always level/quest together due to everyones schedule. Thats the thing with FFXI, without a decent party you might as well just go fishing, cause your not going to be lvling.

Anyway, the fact that you do have the option of going solo when none of your friends are on is what appeals to me in WoW. Not to mention that the trade skill system isn't a major pain to use. I like the way they give you exp pts for exploring new places, to encourage you to roam around and find new things, not just stay in one zone all the time. I only played for a week in OB and I'm already hooked, this is just a great game from what I've been able to see so far. The only thing that sucks is waiting till the 23rd to get my hands on the retail version....

On FF we had players tell us being age 38 we were to old to be playing games :P

I think it's neat to meet other couples and group up in games :)

Yeah I do too :)
We saved some kid once on the ferry from pirates by inviting him to party and sneaking him. He asked us how old we were, when I said, "33" he said, "OMG!!!" lol. I said, "What's so OMG! about it?" He said, "You guys are OLD, why do you play video games?? That's kinda creepy."

><
Bah, at least my own kids love watching us, they think we're cool, lol. Anyway, too bad we don't know ahead of time what servers we're on.

My oh my, and to think when I had decided to give up on FFXI to play WoW I had thought I would be one of the few. It seems as though there are so many that have finally seen the light, and delcared FFXI to be not worthy of there attention. I feel as though I am converting to another religion or something, haha.

hello! Another F-word convert here, hehe. Played F-word since December 03. I enjoyed my time in it, but SE pretty much ruined the game. I left for the same reason most others left. Gil sellers ruined economy, bots ruined NM camps and fishing, SE does nothing to fix problem, elitism, JP hating NA, waiting days (RL) to get into a crappy party that disbands in 30 minutes, some jobs are useless particularly melee since RNG is way overpowered IMO, the only thing melee good for is skillchaining otherwise PTs will always pick RNG for damage. Every single aspect of that game is a huge time sink. You literally can't do anything in that game without devoting like 6 hours of play time. Sorry i'm turning this into a rant ><

anyhow, I'm glad so many of my fellow F-word players are moving to WoW. I haven't played WoW beta, but ive been reading up a lot lately and visiting all the WoW forums trying to get a feel for the game. Can't wait till tomorrow to immerse myself in WoW.

***** Edited the F-word ******* lol

Nice to see so many converts

Coming to WoW with 4-7ish so far of my old F-word pals, probably more as time goes allong I would think. Gonna create a guild so we can all help each other with learning the game and hopefully down the road take on some really fun events.

We still not sure about which side or which server but I do think we are gonna have tons of fun.

Heh another convert here. I just started getting bored with the F-word after playing for about a year *chuckles* As a roleplayer the game didn't leave much for the roleplaying environment and honestly the game takes away from personal success to me. I didn't feel triumphant when I got my AF. Why? Because I needed higher help to get it. I didn't do it on my own. Genkai? Same thing. Rank Missions? Same thing. Levels? Same thing but not higher level help but none solo save the first 12 levels. I want to be able to actually do at least SOMETHING on my own and be able to say hey, I did that. The only thing I could do on my own was the constant boring farming, fishing and mining. Woohoo! Fun times. Sorry, I like playing a game for, um...FUN. So I got EQ2 but the demands on a graphic card (and I bought a new one to play the game) is pretty harsh. So now it's time for WoW. I think in the end WoW will win so EQ2 will have to go away. I'll keep FF active because I still lead a linkshell and have a responsibility to them. But all my time and efforts will definitely be converted by tomorrow.

it would be nice to know what the name of the servers will be called that way we can all try to get on the same server :)

Yeah I agree. Of course we could all try to do as one stated and a friend goes on, picks a server and contacts everyone else. But let's be honest. We all know how we are when we get new games. Hurry! Put in the computer! I have to check this out! *chuckles* As it is tension is building waiting for tomorrow! Being a roleplayer I really am anxious to try their rp servers. After some reading on www.worldofwarcraft.com it looks like they will actually try to police these servers to enrich the environment. Ugh...I just built the tension for myself *watches the clock slowly tick away* Damn Father Time!

Yeah I'd love to get on the same server as some ex-FFers. Unfortunately I'm gonna be alone in WoW since none of my friends or LS mates are making the switch, that I know of. Somehow they all managed to stay interested in FF. And the few RL friends I have that play mmorpgs either don't have computers or are FF fanbois. I have one RL friend that *might* try WoW, but he doesn't sound too enthused about it.

Oh well, I don't anticipate any problems making new friends.
