Just wanted to say hello to all. My husband and I are both coming over to Wow and leaving FF too. I've never played any of Blizzard's games before and the more I read on this game the more excited I must say I am. Can't wait for it to come out^

We've been playing FF for a year now, and it was kinda sad saying goodbye to everyone. We will really miss that game :( Luckily we have a few friend's coming too so that makes it easier.

We decided to come to Wow for a few reasons. The biggest reason is we really just can't devote much more time than a coupe nights a week of playing nowadays. And considering we like to do a lot more than just level grind, 2 nights a week on FF is just not enough to get enough ecomplished. FF is an amazing game but it's just too time consuming for us nowadays.

Another reason is the felxability in this game with soloing. I used to love the party atmosphere in FF but to tell you the truth I prefer just me and the hubby playing or just us and a few close friends. Too many leet speak, thug wannabe, d00ds I come across in the games ~bleh~ (but what can I say, I'm old :P) I do tend to look for a certainly maturity level in fellow players (note that maturity has nothing to do with age in the game). So it's nice to have the option to not be forced to find that full party set up.

I love some of the classes in the game as well and the graphics look amazing! It's also kinda nice to start a game at the begining. I never thought I'd leave FF but Wow just looks awesome. I wish I had gotten in on the beta when it was up >< The only thing that puts me off a bit is not being able to use a controller with the PC (I think I read you couldn't use a controller). We play on 2 computers side-by-side with controllers, it will be freaky having to use the keyboard all the time :/

But anyway, just wanted to say hello and the forums! I'm excited for Tuesday :D

Welcome, hope you enjoy your stay, but it would be wise to leave FF out of all things on these forums, unless you want the protectors on your bum.

I think the whole final fantasy population is moving to WoW/EQ2. I'm sure there are people from other MMOs switching to these to, but it seems like FF are the most outspoken. The game hasn't been out that long I don't believe compared to some MMOs and isn't even in a setting that is traditional like AD&D(unless you played the single player games like me).

I'm planning on switching over too. Just gonna keep my account active long enough to liquidate all my stuff and give my money to an LS member. Then I'm hightailing it out of there to join a friend that has already left as well.

And now the healing process can begin. :D

Even though my roomie is still on FFXI, the rest of us can finally recover from it's horror.

Hehe... why do I have a feeling that within 3 months FF is going to consist almost entirely of PS2 and JP players? Nothing against the PS2ers, I'm one myself.

That being said, my entire ls with the exception of 4 people are coming over to WoW, and waht do you know... all of them are PS2ers. I'll miss those friends, but I'm with the OP. I just don't have the time for FF anymore.

I had more downtime in one hour of FF the other night than I did in two or three days of WoW. Boring. See you all in a few days!

Hello and welcome! I too have left FFXI(PC) behind, I didn't really tell anyone in my linkshell since there was a lot of heat on people leaving the game. After a few days of open beta I just up and cancelled my account.

I was also a FF player till september
however noticing all the ill mannered people in my server and that i was compelled to make a party with those people made me grose out and quit FFXI.

Well i never actually liked blizzard and was not thining of playing WoW but after my real life friends harassing me about it i decieded to give a try in the beta and now im jumping into WoW =D

Same here, I'm just not the power user they seem to be targetting. I'm gonna give WoW a try and see if it fits my style better.

Hey, I played FFXI for 6 months and enjoyed most of my time there. I really liked a lot of aspects FF. A good group was amazing, but a bad group(usually ruined by 1 player) sucked horribly. Now that the economy is being destroyed by gil sellers, and 6-7 of my IRL friends starting WoW, I have decided to [Convert]. I can't wait for huge raid ptys on towns and mobs. WoW seems fantastic, I just hope it has a lot of high lvl content due to the relative ease at which u lvl. Me and my friends are going Horde on PVP, hope to see you there.

Since you are, ahem, old, you might want to try

http://www.theoldergamers.com

We have a 25+ year old age requirement to join. Lots of adults have already joined. We will be playing on the Pacific servers since we are Aussie/USA.

Hey there-fellow mature female gamer/recent FFXI convert here. Well, maybe others would still consider me a youngling but I am far more reserved than others my age so...^^

I ran into the dame problems with FFXI after playing for a year-I just did not have time anymore. And you know what? After less than an hour of playing the beta, I was sold on WoW-I couldn't believe what I had been missing. I had been attached to FFXI but that was thrown out of the window when I saw how fun, beautiful, and well-done WoW was. I had more fun in the subsequent few days of playing than I had ever had in XI, basically.

Like you, a lot of my really close RL friends are making the switch too, which is awesome. We're setting up Alliance and Horde characters on a PvE server, and will be able to have relatively stress-free fun together in between our busy schedules.

So welcome-and good luck to you in Azeroth!

Bah, after reading all these posts i felt like i should post too. LoL yes im from ffxi too, Seraph then ot Remora. A few days ago i gave away all my gear and gil to some friends... about 3 million worth all up (yeah i was kinda an elitist but u dont have a choice in ffxi but to be one). It was pretty hard, considering all the time we all invested into the game but im really sold for WoW now (even tho i didnt get into the OB). Still having trouble deciding which class to be (leaning towards Hunter or Pally) or race (leaning towards NE or Hume O.o;). Anyone got any opinions on these? Critics are utmost welcome. Hoping to meet some nice peeps in-game. I have a good feeling this game is gonna rock. The environment looks so nice and colourful, with lotsa plants and purple skies.

Goodbye boring old South Gustaberg!

Hi there :) Welcome to WoW

Really neat that you made this post :)

My husband and I also played EQ and FFXI and left them both :)

Not sure what server we will be playing on yet....

{maturity level in fellow players (note that maturity has nothing to do with age in the game).
I guess we must be old also as we are the same way heheh

On FF we had players tell us being age 38 we were to old to be playing games :P

I think it's neat to meet other couples and group up in games :)
