And I hope they wont do like EQ an d release too muich expension. Thats 1 of the reason I quited EQ I was tired to pay montly fee and buy xpack I didn't had the 2 last one.
Uhm... First of all, maybe you should invest the money you're not paying out to WoW to go to school and take an english class and learn some basic grammar. I am so tired of hearing people like you whine about how every cool game that comes out isn't GIVEN to you for free "Flame on!"
First of all, EQ - the original - never cost 30 bucks. Whatever you're smoking, you need to share. Secondly, yes, the expansions were about 29.99 or so in stores but think about this... there were what? Eight expansions? At 29.99 a piece, that's $239.92 BEFORE taxes. Also, after EQ had been out for three years or so, SOE decided to start bundling the game and the first two expansions as the "Classic triology" for 39.99 - I know because I got back into the game at that time and paid $125.00 or so to buy all the expansions up to PoP for myself to play - 250 total for both me and my hubby to play.
Next, let's discuss why it costs 49.99 to purchase a new game like WoW. Let's see, we've got their website and forums, which they post updates on and maintain for their customers - where they answer questions and post new material for you to read
free of charge. Then we've got the YEARS of research, development, coding, and testing the game went through BEFORE the game went into Beta. Next we have Closed Beta, Stress Tests, Open Beta, advertising, marketing, packaging, printing (manuals, game boxes, CD's, etc) and distribution of the game to all the retailers across the US to include Alaska and Hawaii (you think it's cheap to send items there?). Let's not even discuss how much foreign distribution is going to cost them with customs, duties, tarriffs and so on.
Finally, let's discuss the monthly fee you're so worked up about.... there are 720 hours in a 30 day month, so at 14.95, you're paying TWO CENTS an hour to play the game. That's pretty darn cheap if you ask me, since there are some of us out here who do play the game 12+ hours on certain given days. Oh and by the way, that 14.95 a month pays for server upkeep, upgrades and personnel to be on hand to help people get unstuck or with technical issues. Labor doesn't come cheap you know.
So the next time you get something stuck in your craw and decide that it's unfair for Blizzard to charge you money to play the game that cost them millions, if not billions of dollars to develop for you to enjoy, please do a little thinking first and be a little more thankful to the people who have sacrificed years of their lives to bring WoW and games like it to your ungrateful little self. Welcome to Capitalism and the real world, sweetheart.
"Flame off!"
