Mage vs Rogue - Who does the most damage?Follow

#27 Nov 21 2004 at 12:45 PM Rating: Decent
WoW is an excellent game because of this. Every class does damage. You can pick any class you want, and still do good damage. In PvP, Rogues have an advantage over everything but hunters, because of thier stealth they can stealth to the side and sneak around to the enemy casters and rip them apart. I killed a level 20 Troll mage by surprising him like this with my lvl 11 rogue. When in close, rogues do very nice damage. However, mages are also quite good for theri damage as well. In a raid, they can let off a flmaestrike and blizzard and, although not massive damage to a single target, the mdeium damage to many targets really does help the group, as it makes the enemy healers' job that much harder and makes your killing much easier. But in truth all is good ^^

Mage have great burst DPS but horrible sustained DPS. They run out of MP very fast. Rogue have great sustained DPS. Hunters also have great DPS.

In the term of Burst DPS (who deal the most amount of damage in the shortest amount of time). Its Mage > Rogue > Hunter > Warrior

and the classes with the best sustained DPS (best damage than can be maintained all the time). Its Rogue > Hunter > Warrior > Everything else.

The problem with Mage is that their damage is based on their MP. When they run out of MP, they can't deal damage anymore. When a fight last for a long time, they can't do anything else. While Hunters and Rogue can still attack.

The main difference between Hunters and Rogue is that Rogue deal more damage but build alot more hate towards monsters. While Hunters, who still have great damage, don't pull hate because their pet is part of their DPS and generate his own hate toward the monster. Pets deal about 30% of Hunters total damage.
