Server question/clarification.Follow

Just a quick question to clarify something for me.

As I live in Australia, the WoW community site says that I will connect to severs based on the west coast of the US. That said, will friends of mine on the east coast be able to specify/select play on west coast servers so that we can game together?

Just curious.

If that is truely the case that puts a big dent in purchasing the game for me.

I don't think they are going to make you connect to different servers, its for better connection I think... If they are doing that there going to hae a **** load of people unhappy because of online friends from oposite coasts...

Actually I read somewhere that in the US you can pick whatever server you want, but they SUGGEST the one closest to you.

I was looking for that info since I'm in Hawaii and most of the people I want to play with are on the east coast.

I am hoping it will be a matter of choice.

No you do not have to go to the server of your region.

From the knowledge base on the WoW site.

Do I have to choose a server listed for my area of the country?

No, you are not required to choose an east server if you are on the east coast, but it could cause some performance issues if you choose to play on a west coast server.

Anyone in the NZ, AUS, USA can pick whatever server to play on. I think Europe and Asia are the only ones with seperate servers.

Well if you think about it, it wouldn't be a good business move for them to do that. Also, as far as the "performace issues" go, i've never seen any on any other blizzard game i've played online. Maybe if I was on 56k though... but with broadband its no prob. >.>
