Does anyone know if we can overwrite the beta files or do we delete 2 gigabites first before we install discs from retail game?

You will not need to install the retail version of the game. If you have the latest beta client, it's already there. You will only need a CD key to play.

Do not uninstall the beta client! :)

DO NOT DELETE.

The files you have now are a large majority of what you need for retail. All you must do after getting your cds is enter you key, make an acount, and start playing.

EDIT:how often is it people post at the exact same moment lol.

I was not going to delete anyway, I was gonna open the app to the login page and sit and look at it waiting for the game to go live.

well blizzard did say part of the reason for them shutting beta down early was so they could remove any "old code" and data from the servers . dont know if this is relavent to whats on our computers or not. havnt wiped mine yet though

you might have to delet the beta file... and reinstal the game...

since there is no place to put your billing info... and there is no way ppl will do that on a site -_-;;

and there are things missing in the beta file eg music...

and most of the beta game i played... had to be deleted befor the retail to work...

linage 2, RO, FF XI...

...I am sure that the beta file will be usless now.

Nahh - blizzard has said that we are to keep the current install and use it.

No need to install again.

Have you ever signed up for EQ? Yeah - it's done through a web interface (even though it's within the client). When we go to login on the first day, we'll get the option to "subscribe" again and thats where we'll enter our keys and account info.

It'll be almost identical (if not totally) to how you did it when entering open beta.

Blizzard was lying, I am 90% sure. They said this to cut down flak about deleting the beta characters. Remember, they said this as justification for the deletion, but that doesn't really make sense, since character data fils are seperate from program files. I guess they didn't want to deal with arguements over the deletion much, evne though there were good balance/fairness reasons to do the deletion.

You won't be able to install the game from the DVD unless you uninstall the beta version. It says so when you put the disk in and autoplay brings up the installer.

If that's the case, what exactly is the point of the DVD? To be pretty? A coaster maybe. =)

There's many ways people will do that on a web site. Not everyone is afraid of putting up a credit card number on a secure site. Besides, for the people out there that are (or more importantly whose parents are) there's always the pre-paid gamecards. Or do you think they'd be afraid to enter that into a web page too?

Personally I trust a nice SSL-secured web page a lot more than some random 3rd party app *coughPOLcough* At least with SSL I know what kind of security I'm getting, not just a blind promise that their program is secure...

Tekkub, you hit it right on the money. I'm also more confortable with my CC on a SSL page than somthing like POL.

As I recall, Ultima Online also used a web interface for account and billing management.
