Whats the enjoyment of PvP. Wouldnt it be more fun to load up BF: 42 or something like that as opposed to spending months killing other people on a server for XP.

Its an ultimate test of your skills

So you see a hunter running around near your lvl, and you stealth, creep up and sap him, tear apart his pet then kill him, knowing that if he spots you before you get to him you will most likely die.

Kind of exciting in my opinion

How can you compair an FPS to an MMO...

On top of that, it has alot to do with setting. Playing an FPS has a completely different feel, you NEVER feel safe in an FPS, you have one purpose, that's it.

In games like WoW, you can be out adventuring when you bump into the enemy... you just never know what to expect.

the fun of pvp? you get to know your class better...
and to get the full joy of this game you sould try it.
I mean :D wnat more fun then seeing 50 vs 50 ppl! all runing around and trying to kill each other...

and the pvp (depand on where you are) you can just stand and watch :D you don't have to be involed

imao, start in a pvp server :D and try it out :D if you don't like it you don't have todo it. but if you start out in none pvp... well... you'll never know what you are missing

:D hunter vs rogue

if rogue get stealth and do the sap 1st :D no need to kill the pet :D pet is usless... kill the hunter and it's gone...

if a rogue hit 1st no matter what class you are you are dead or dieing :D (but same for any class... 1st hit has the advantage)

:D and the part about "knowing that if he spots you before you get to him you will most likely die." LOL so much fun!!!!

but it's hard to stop a rogue... from coming in close... pet attack, slow shot, keep shooting, wait for him to be close, wing clip, jump back 2-3 times slow shot = dead rogue :D

These are great 1v1 discussions, but really, why solo when you can have a friend or two? ;-)

I play a rogue so I solo mainly just because it feels right.

and the example I gave was mainly for the dramatic aspect of rogue 1v1 PvP

I never really did a lot of pvp, mainly because it was so lame in EQ and SWG. However, I took part in a number of pvp battles on server 10 last night, and it was a blast, even though people were disorganized.

I think though that the main problem was that where I was (defending Astranaar as a NE hunter) there was not a great balance of chars (too many hunters and druids, not enough warriors and priests) on our side, whereas the horde was more organized.

But still it was fun.

But afterwards I went and read blizzard's pvp idea article, and now I'm really excited for the pvp aspect of the game.

It seems like if you play WoW, you'll "get" why you would PVP eventually just by playing the game. I hope it works, because it sounds like they have the right idea.

it should be noted that you don't get xp for any pvp kills (as the orignial poster seemed to think). i assume this is a move to deter a player from dedicating their entire time to lvling off of other players (can you imagine what an *** this person would be? /y-ing all over "SephirothXX for teh win"). in any case, pvp is sort of a fun aside, or like a "mini-game," until battlegrounds and more raid-specific quests are implements... and it keeps you on your toes: i had to be careful even when i was wandering around outside of zoram strand and collecting leather because i could get ganked in a second.

besides which... you never really know what it is you'll be facing like you do in an fps because even if i know exactly what abilities my opponent has trained i still don't know where they've allotted points in their talent trees (most likely i don't anyway), nor do i know what their pet can do, nor do i know what their eq can do (if it has some latent or charge efffect).
plus... it just seems unnatural to have humans wandering next to orcs or undead and not having **** go down.
